One of the great early (1978) UK punk rock singles - Action Time Vision - from Alternative TV , delivered to your eyes and ears via a smokin' Internet connection and whole bunch of tubes. Trouser Press writes: "Although the abstract stuff doesn't hold up so well, it's still an amazing document of a [...]

The Beets, German Measles & Coconut Coolouts at the Funhouse, Seattle | 30 April 2010 New York's ramshackle, frumpy party scene visited the Funhouse on Friday night for some debauchery, good times and music. Seattle's Coconut Coolouts played hosts, opening the night with their version Pacific Northwest garage party rock. The Coolouts have boiled party rock down to a science of two stand-up drummers, Bruno Kirby on keyboards, a primal stomp and some well chosen covers. It seems [...]

It's tax day in America so here's an early return for anybody who wants it: a vinyl rip of the entirely essential 1981 compilation I.R.S. GREATEST HITS VOLS. 2 & 3 which has never been released on CD. I've been meaning to do this for some time, and April 15 seemed like a good excuse to finally hook up the turntable to the computer. This double-LP, which I first bought while on a family vacation in Myrtle Beach in 1985, was a formative record for me. Already familiar with I.R.S. Records through R.E.M., The Go-Gos, and General Public, [...]

There're so many unheralded punk nuggets floating around the world that it really has become impossible to track each and everyone down. And oddly enough, it's taken a Japanese label to ingratiate listeners to the sounds of F.U.2. 1977 Records appears focused on re-releasing a great deal of scum-fuck punk in order to perhaps re-tell part of history. And for this particular release, they've not only re-told some of it, but explained it as well. Beginning in the early '60s a huge crop of Brit Beat combos popped up. Amongst them [...]
