Shawn Lee is one of those producers that's just so much better than most of their peers. The guys gets music. His compositions are beautiful, complex and moving. I love his sound, and so naturally I was incredibly pumped to see his new album, "Celestial Electric", with LA based vocalist, AM. Shawn Lee lives in Londontown, and so this album was created through passing music back and forth via email. Amazing world we live in. [Grab these remixes and get rid of your case of the Mondays...] AM & Shawn Lee - " Promises Are Never Far From Lies (Rob Garza Remix)" –– AM & Shawn Lee's electro-pop sound in their track "Promises Are Never Far From Lies" gets an intense treatment from Thievery Coporation's Rob Garza. It's a pretty standout translation considering how soothing the electronica from Garza's band can also be. Kevin Devine - "11-17 (White Sea Remix)" [...]

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Originally a solo artist, AM hails from America, bringing the diverse sound that you would expect from someone who was raised New Orleans. Producing music steadily built upon the mixture of Americana folk pop as well as various R&B elements, he already had a whole lot of genre conglomeration going on before he decided that he would collaborate with London acclaimed groove master, Shawn Lee , on this album. What one would think is far too many different [...]

The extensive list below contains the names of several can't-miss bands, which hopefully will add some spice to our post Hurricane Irene lives. First off, Beirut returns with Rip Tide . We can't say enough good things about this full-circle, instrumentally sound group (shown above). The entire album might not strike every heartstring, yet that's here nor there. Tame Impala could be one of the most interesting bands were have come across in a while. The Western Australia guys combine a classic psychedelic tone with a youthful playfulness. Innerspeaker [...]
Considering AM & Shawn Lee 's cool, misty, electro sound, it wasn't a surprise that their debut single, "Dark Into Light" (which we premiered ), took off and found homes in iPods owned by fans of Broken Bells and the Postal Service. Since the track's release, the duo comprised of the L.A. singer-songwriter and the London producer have been signed to ESL Music, and their upcoming album is slated for a Sept. 6 release, in time for their tour with acts such as L.A.'s own Fool's Gold and electronica outfit Thievery Corporation. When Los Angeles vocalist AM heard London grove monster Shawn Lee on the local radio, he did the only sensible thing possible: emailed him and told him he liked him. After a brief awkward period between bros, the pair hit it off in spectacular musical fashions. Following much swapage of vintage 60's and 70's soundtrack [...]

"Dark Into Light" is the new single from the cyberspace collaboration of AM & Shawn Lee out July 19, 2011 on ESL . The L.A. to London, transatlantic musical collaboration was conceived after AM heard Lee on the radio in Los Angeles and reached out to him via email. If you were working hard partying, you might have missed the buzz at SXSW about the recent collaboration between AM (LA based pop artist) and Shawn Lee (British songwriter). A special Monday edition of On Repeat this week. This post was supposed to go up on Friday, but we were all somewhere in Austin for SXSW. By that point, I don't think I was in any state to write about music. So, a few days late, here are the latest tracks that are on repeat at Binary. We'll kick it off with Lakes Of Light remixing Expatriate's song "Crazy". A great vocal track taken to a new level by Lakes. It reminds me a little of the style Lifelike used for his Does It Offend [...]
