It doesn't get much better than Hessian. This monstrous, blackened-hardcore/grind spewing beast of a wolf is on the prowl. The moon better watch its back. - By JH Statts

Cult of Luna don't play live very often. Seeing as they've just released what will surely be one of the albums of 2013 (yes, we know it's only January) the Thrash Hits team was out in force to see them play live. Most of us were in London, but Gary Wolstenholme took some photos for us up in Sheffield, so there are pics of Her Name Is Calla rather than Amenra. FYI. Six things we discovered when Cult Of Luna played a gig in London [...]

Heaving, dynamic lurches, and the promise of shadowy enlightenment spill over on Amenra's latest album, V . Worshipping the riff is a chief component of more ceremonially inclined metal bands. Over the course of five full-lengths, Belgian quintet Amenra has crafted ritualized drones dripping in sludgy doom -- gathering the faithful to its aptly titled Church of Ra. Heaving, dynamic lurches, and the promise of shadowy enlightenment spill over on the band's latest album, V. With four lengthy songs replete with sacramental subtleties, V pivots between cyclical, ascendant churns and frosty, contemplative...
Well, since Christmas and the New Year are now well and truly out of the way, we figured now was the perfect time to throw the next episode of the Thrash Hits podcast out there for you to digest. This week, Raz and Hugh are talking about the various ins and outs of certain legal cases (Ian Watkins of Lostprophets, Harley Flanagan - formerly - of Cro Mags, and, of course, Randy Blythe of Lamb of God) that have been going on while we were on our Christmas break, as well a a discussion on the nature of making tips [...]

Got any extreme metal fans on your holiday shopping list? Are u like DIO REMASTERS 4 ALL?
Some very intense and haunting sludge metal here from Belgium's Amenra. I really cannot stress enough just how haunting this song is. The vocals are filled with a sort of furious pain that sounds so distant like it is being sucked up by the instrumentation, but not in such a way that it feels drowned out due to the mixing. While the music provides a tension that feels unparalleled with a progression that reminds me of Mogwai the tension is somehow furthered by the visuals. The video is a bizarre clay stop motion piece that will be in my dreams for [...]

Earlier this week, Damnation Festival announced Hawk Eyes, Ravens Creed and The Atrocity Exhibit as the final three bands for their 2012 line-up , and my, way a killer line-up it is too. If you have bought a ticket already: well done. You know the score. If for some reason just reading the [...]

LHF are a collective of future dubstep and garage producers living in London, Mumbai, L.A., New York and Rio that are coated in the aul mystery cloak. Consisting of people who have musician names like Amenra, No Fixed Abode, Double Helix, and Low Density Matter, they have released an album called Keepers Of The Light under the LHF banner on Dusk and Blackdown's Keysound Recordings. None of which has any bearing on 'Tandava' other than background info as this track doesn't appear on that [...]
