Having driven across America, maybe five or six times in my life (just have to hit New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma, well Alaska too and all fifty states will have been visited), I'm always surprised by how varied the landscape is. What's interesting about many of the photos run in this Denver Post series is many of the places features (at least in the Northeast like Brockton, Mass., Rutland, VT., Stonington, Conn., etc.) are sixty-years later no longer rural but heavily urbanized areas of the country.
