It's time to travel this week for most bands to New York for CMJ next week. Expect a lot of great bands to head through the region in the coming days. Friday night is no exception. Swing by The Khyber for Scranton's The Sw!ms , joined by locals New Motels . Also on the bill is our friends from Baltimore, Squaaks and all the way from Little Rock, American Princes , passing through on their way to NYC. The Sw!ms - We Need Lava New Motels - [...]
So rollingstone.com and Jose Cuervo are teaming up to bring us some free indie rock here in New York next Tuesday (that's April 10th folks!). The show is featuring three up-and-coming bands, Heavy Trash, The Big Sleep, and American Princes. I don't know much about two of these bands, but I can totally vouch for The Big Sleep as being a band you should definately check out, plus free is the right price no matter how you slice it. The only draw back to the show is it is 21 and over, and you have to RSVP at [...]

Holiday update from the band: Christmas came early for us this year. In May, we found ourselves in Atlanta , playing a [...]

I once sat in the back of Lucero's van and drunkenly confessed to Gary that I had a huge crush on him. Gary not only didn't laugh in my face, he didn't kick me out of the van. Instead, he was kind enough to drive me back to my hotel (we were in Austin at the time and it would have taken me an hour to find a cab.) Gary is an all around good guy and he was even nice enough to do a "best of" list for me. I would have had someone in Lucero make a list, [...]
So this past weekend at MMS, EJ dragged me over to see his boys from Little Rock, American Princes . Although the sound was lacking in EJ's opinion, I was really liking what I heard from these guys. Plus they did a really great cover of Dinosaur, Jr.’s “Feel the Pain.†Here are a couple songs and a new video from these guys. Also some tour dates. Come to Cincinnati guys!
