Yes, I'm slowly coming back to life. Part of social resurrection (appropriate for this Holy Week) is going to see space rockers White Hills (above) with Kolyma at Kings on Monday night (April 25). All the way through, Crawling smashes into you with sheer volume, but surprises you with its intricacy. Sure, you could call the crunchy songs that make up Crawling garage rock. You wouldn't be wrong, necessarily, but you would be simplifying things. Americans in France distinguish themselves by proving adroit pop shape-shifters all through this record. Just a quick note to say I caught Veelee and A mericans in France at last night's music.mync.com showcase for Cherry Bounce at Slim's. I enjoyed them both, Americans in France more so. Would have loved to have seen Gray Young , but it was past my bedtime. I'll add videos and more details later. Right now here's a photo as a quick tease.

They are all on the wonderful Dallas based Idol Records Label. These guys churn out some excellent local bands and are a respected indie music label. Like the Clash, North Carolina's Americans In France are bored of the USA. Their solution: Start a band, apparently. Here's to hoping their post-punk pomp gets them there. There aren't any press-released plans for the band's European move, but their girl-on-boy vocal harmonies and fuzzy guitar riffs can be an escape from the American way until then.
