AMON TOBIN : ISAM LIVE and BOXSET For the first time in Amon Tobin's career, he is now capable of delivering a truly groundbreaking visual experience that matches the scale of his renowned musical explorations. The avant-garde producer has, for now, stepped away from previous DJ-centric performances, and developed an entirely unique large-scale live show that expands on the concepts behind his [...]

Amon Tobin By Nick Cowan May 12, 2012 Ninja Tune favourite Amon Tobin delivered a second tour of ISAM , an audio-visual spectacular of his most recent album at Brixton Academy on Saturday. On stage, an ominous structure is shrouded in darkness. It's made up of a collection of large cubes resembling a giant game of Tetris that isn't going too well. Inside, the homunculus electronic producer/DJ Tobin pushes magic buttons and a kaleidoscope of CGI wizardry is projected onto the cubes in time with the [...]

Shadow Attack delivers some live glitch hop IDM sounds for free download. Michigan's Shadow Attack is Jeremy Judkins who also runs deepblip records. I originaly thought this was the usual club set. But it more twisted than that. This is a live mix of glitch, IDM, industrial and hip hop into a stew that has a resemblence to Amon Tobin's wilder moments. Live @ BLUE Detroit, MI If 40 mins is too much to contemplate, here's Bubble Gutz from the Aqua Dipped EP : [...]

Note: Due to technical difficulties, photos of ALL these bands will come later. Is Indio becoming Seattle, and Coachella becoming Bumbershoot? Except, you know, without the umbrellas, because Coachella has a policy of not letting people bring umbrellas? Yesterday was a cold, rainy, miserable day, which after the hot temperatures of years past was actually one of the nicest ways I've experienced a day of Coachella. After wrangling with the surprisingly nice people at the Media Check-in, I showed up just shy of 1 p.m., where I discovered I had missed [...]

M83 / The Black Keys / Refused "Coachella's new dueling weekends have unwittingly started a bitter turf war between those at the festival now and those who plan to come next week. In years past, if you were the socially adept, party-minded type, you could pretty much bank on the fact that all the cool kids in your social satellite system would be somewhere on the Empire Polo Field, in line for Spicy Pie pizza, or wearing next-to-nothing at the Ace [...]

Upon arriving at the polo grounds for Coachella 2012, it was readily apparent that this festival was nothing like those that I frequent back on the East coast. Gone were the bizarrely dressed, pre-teen ravers replaced instead with fashion-conscious, faux hippies. Goldenvoice chose Indio, California for it's predictable weather and comfortable climate - it might rain 5 times a year here. Yesterday just happened to be one of those days. Thankfully, the storm that hit California's coast earlier in the day had lost much of its steam as it barreled towards the festival. Bringing with it a wave of cold [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , RPM WireImage It's that time again , and with Coachella's set times finally posted , we've broken down our top picks for dance/electronica acts to check out in Indio on Friday (April 13). Thankfully, there are very few inter-genre conflicts this time around. Kicking things off with a French touch, Breakbot plays Sahara (aka the Rave Tent) at 2:30PM, followed by fellow Ed [...]

[The Buzz Bands LA crew will be in Indio for the first weekend of the doubleheader in the desert, scribbling notes and taking photographs between predictable attacks of nostalgia, next-big-thing giddiness and dehydration. Coachella 2012 offers a mind-boggling array of current and past favorites to suit just about any palette — no whining about the lineup or debating reward-vs.-cost here. Here are 6 acts we won't miss, and a bunch more we recommend:] Reunions, Returns and Resurgences [...]

Few people truly deserve the title "living legend" as much as modern composer Philip Glass . Though he prefers to be thought of as a composer of "music with repetitive structures" instead of as a "minimalist," the list of musicians indebted to Glass's minimalist stylings is a long one. I'm willing to bet that many fans of contemporary electronic and rock music aren't even aware of the influence he has had on some of the top indie auteurs, knob twiddlers, and beatmakers on the scene today. But a new album of remixes of [...]

From March 2008: Somewhere back in the mid-90′s a fresh faced Brazilian ex-pat living in the UK decided he was going to put down his harmonica, pick up a sampler, and name himself after a Stephen King novel. The resulting album, Cujo's 'Adventures In Foam' (released on Ninebar records, later reissued on Ninja Tune) signaled Amon Tobin's entry into the world of music. Immediately upon hearing this record, the powers that be at Ninja Tune signed him up to record as Amon Tobin, and he quickly went to work on [...]
