I know this is really late, but life happens. This is some footage from the 2008 "How The Grouch Stole Christmas Tour" and also a sneak peak at the "!BOOM!" Video that features Slug of Atmosphere, produced by Amplive of Zion I. The video will be premiering on MTVu on July 9, 2009. We're getting ready for the 2009 Christmas tour right now, let us know if there's anyone you want to see on the tour. Peace, The Grouch

Yes I know, the Nation was down for a couple of days, and I haven't posted in forever. I couldn't help it, because it was the wordpress blogging software that crashed, not the Nation. It sucked, and I panicked, but now its back! Lets get back to business. For this post, I decided to go way back, and take a look at a lot of the songs that didn't play correctly, and now I will re-post them. I didn't get all of them, so if there are any more, please let me know, and I will gladly re-post them. [...]
California's Amplive has always been high on my list for producing solid remixes/songs. I recently came across a remix that I was unaware that he had done of one of my all time favorite tracks - WHY?'s "The Vowels Pt. 23. Needless to say it's pretty sweet...check it: mp3: WHY? - The Vowels Pt. 2 (Amplive Remix) And who could forget this little number as well: mp3: MGMT - Of Moons Birds & Monsters (Amplive Communication Edit ft. Mistah Fab) ____________________ Listen [...]

Amp Live Feat. K.Flay Trackademcks J. Sonic Live at The Uptown It's rare that the sun moon and stars align in favor of Oakland's nightlife, BUT it happens this FRIDAY! If you haven't been to Downtown Oakland, you might not know that there has been a whole new crop of bars popping up, as well as the historic Fox Theater , making the blocks around the corner from Oaksterdam the new East Bay destination. As if that wasn't enough, its going to be First [...]
AmpLive of the group Zion I has just released a new single "Gary Is A Robot" which features Trackademics and Micro Jaxson. Like many I first caught on to AmpLive with his Rainydayz Radiohead remixes which were quite amazing. This new single though is pretty darn hot in it's own right. The flow and tempo remind me of Pigeon John but digitized up a bit. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come for him. mp3: AmpLive - Gary Is A Robot And here's a classic from the Radiohead [...]

A few short months after the release of the long-anticipated new Zion I record, Bay Area producer & remix mastermind AmpLive is set to unveil the inaugural record on new Om Records imprint, Child's Play. Merging the sounds of hip hop, electro, disco, d&b & dubstep, the new brand within the Om family is a fitting home for Murder at the Discotec - AmpLive's latest soiree into gritty electro & dancefloor-ready anthems, due in early Fall. The first single from the record, "Gary is a Robot," is a synth-hop banger featuring the Bay's own Trackademicks of [...]

He's not a robot but apparently, Gary is. Amp Live is back with this new single "Gary is a Robot" to be release exclusively on Turntable Lab . The track is an electro-hop number featuring Bay Area's own Trackademicks of Fools Gold fame & Micro Jaxson. This single is a preview to his upcoming album "Murder at the Discotec" set to be release on Om Record 's new imprint Child's Play. Amp Live myspace Music: Amp Live - Gary is a Robot

(via Nod Young ) Why does dude always look so pissed in his press pics ? Retoricle question. Anyway, AmpLive 's got some interesting electro-hop in the works and a new single to give out. The single, "Gary is a Robot," is out on May 12th everywhere, but available via an exclusive pre-release at Turntable Lab right now. You'll be able to snag a full record to later this year. This new collab with Micro Jaxson and Trackademicks feels like a pretty solid night starter. AmpLive + Micro Jaxson [...]

AmpLive storms back to our hearts with a new single, "Gary Is A Robot" (out May 12), which just so happens to also feature the accompaniment of Fool's Gold's Trackademicks and Micro Jaxson. We kind of forgot about the dude for a while since his landmark and yet unbelievably under-appreciated In Rainbows rip-up, but with this year-2050 R&B/electro club track, there's no denying his presence. With beats as fresh as same-day-delivered produce and rhymes that almost shrug their way out of his mouth, it's time to break a sweat. There's no other way [...]

We're jumping on the plane to the Bay area in a moment for the May edition of THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO . Driving up the 5 at this moment is DJANGO JAMES & THE MIDNIGHT SQUIRES who will be supporting THE FRAIL as the two bands start playing at 11pm. We have a late start to the party this evening ~ 9:30pm ~ but the good news is that there is $2 drink specials all night long. Guest DJ's [...]

Next month's RUMBLE: SF will be like a return to the glory days! DJANGO JAMES & THE MIDNIGHT SQUIRES will be driving up from LA to perform at 11pm, with San Francisco's THE FRAIL (FS28) headlining. Special guest DJ's include AMPLIVE (Zion I) and Anthony of LOQUAT . Of course, Bagel Ted of Bagel Radio will be holding things down as well. $2 drink specials - RSVP here > [...]
Maybe you saw it, maybe you didn't - this is Radiohead playing 15 Step with the USC Marching Band at the '09 Grammy's. BEST. ROCK. BAND. EVER. Radiohead - 15 Step (Grammys 2009) Here's another version of this song that I really like... 15 Stepz by AmpLive Long live Indie Music!

After a tiny bit of legal strife, AmpLive was allowed to continue the free download of this album remixed entirely from Radiohead's In Rainbows. (Honestly, Radiohead probably heard it and LOVED it!) If you like it... go get it! http://www.onesevensevensix.co m/amplive/index.html [...]

I received a mysterious email from France today letting me know about some remixes I may like and let me just say Etienne, thank you. Much like the stunning Amplive Radiohead Remixes and imaginative Flying Lotus reinterpretation, Three Leaves And A Head take "Nude" and "Reckoner" into a new context that reintroduces the fan to In Rainbows . Now I'm a picky guy when it comes to remixes, especially concerning Radiohead, but my jaw was literally floored after watching these remixes correspond the the official videos. Honesty, I feel as though Etienne's interpretation takes on [...]

The group Zion I have been underground stalwarts since they first joined forces back in 1998. With Cali native AmpLive handling the production duties and ATL transplant Zumbi on the mic, the duo strike a balance of social commentary and party vibes on their sixth album The TakeOver . By keeping everything in-house save for a few choice guest spots, the duo keeps the show moving at a nice pace on this succinct and enjoyable album. Normally when the word diverse is used to describe an album's production, it either means that the artist got a few [...]
