Amy Ray: Lung of Love

Amy Ray has produced a damn decent pop/rock record from beginning to end. There's no wheel reinventing here, but certainly some wheel-lubricating. Any artistic output that matches the consistent modesty of the Indigo Girls' could, on the flip side, be criticized for being unambitious -- with every new LP from the 'Girls, you can expect another batch of straight arrow folk pop/rock pearls, but very little if any divergence from the formula they've thoroughly established. But who could really complain? Not only do the Indigo Girls (as well as Amy Ray, individually) fill the classicist folk/rock/pop hole...

Amy Ray - Lung Of Love

Het hart is misschien wel het meest bezongen deel van het menselijk lichaam in de muziek. Het staat immers voor liefde en passie. Amy Ray, een van de twee Indigo Girls, ziet dat anders en stelt de longen op Lung...

Brandi Carlile: Concert Review

Brandi Carlile: Concert Review YouTube vids only today... because I'm afraid of the blogocide . I went to a Brandi Carlile show last night at Knoxville's Bijou Theatre, and a hoedown broke out. More on that later... I have to start my review of the show with a mention of Amy Ray from the Indigo Girls. Amy opened the show with a solo set that completely put me back on my heels. I'll admit to not being too familiar with Amy's solo work, and I went into her [...]

Flashion Backward: Amy Ray

Aw, snap. It's time for a leisurely stroll down memory lane with Flashion Backward. Let's wander through UI's archives and see what ancient creaking box of treats lies in wait for our greedy pawing pleasure. Today we're chatting with Amy Ray, a woman for whom self-expression and tellin' it like it is is more than a way of life-it is her life. As 50 percent of the now-legendary folk-singing, guitar-strumming, artsy, vaguely fartsy Indigo Girls , Amy Ray has always managed to distinguish herself through solo albums (which are increasingly getting a more [...]
