New festival alert! The River's Edge Music Festival will take place June 23-24th at Harriet Island in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Dave Matthews Band and Tool headline the inaugural bill and they'll be joined by The Flaming Lips, Puscifer, Coheed and Cambria, Diplo, and Brand New. Also playing are Delta Spirit, Scissor Sisters, Polica, Kinky, Mexican Institute of Sound, Motion City Soundtrack, Mutemath, Gardens & Villa, Kids These Days, K-flay, An Horse, Yuna, and Civil Twilight. Two-day passes go on sale Friday, April 10th via LiveNation.

The Fonda Theatre in LA has re-opened and thank God since indie long-timer, Nada Surf, was in our hood.

Nada Surf kicked off the tour behind their latest album The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles last night. As a companion to the album, they also released The Dulcitone Files EP which offers stripped down acoustic performances of tracks from the new album. Last night they worked through a twenty song setlist augmented by Martin Wenk from Calexico on keyboards and Doug Gillard of Guided By Voices on guitar. With everyone finally back from SXSW in Austin, the local concert calendar also picks up significantly this week. Starting on Monday, The Magnetic Fields begin the first of two night at the Neptune Theatre, followed on Tuesday night with the Drive By Truckers at the Showbox, and local legends Mudhoney bring the noise to the Tractor on Wednesday night. We've been huge fans of An Horse ever since we caught them on tour for their first record , Rearrange Beds . The band is a two piece that manages to manifest a much fuller sound than just the drum/guitar/vocal combo would indicate.
