After seeing An Horse open for Tegan and Sara last year, I was rather pleased to finally get my hands on their debut record, Rearrange Beds , back in March. I was even more pleased when they announced a slew of headlining tour dates , gracing us St. Louisans with their presence yet again. On Father's Day, I found myself in the Lemp district at Off Broadway to see the Australian duo showcase tracks off their recent release. Combining rather funny banter [...]
okay, so I'm basically settled in Denver 8much like our friend Lou over there) ... for now ... and I'm going to make a regular habit of posting reviews again. It's been too long, and I'm all ready losing track of stuff I've liked, and this blog is kind of how I keep track of that stuff, so the solution is obvious. Also, Tonight you should come out and see An Horse at the Hi-Dive . If you don't know anyone who wants to go, paint a cardboard cut out of your favorite author and [...]

MySpace What do you get when you have a pile of random news and links, not a lot of time and definitely not enough caffeine in your system? A post like this. NME reports that British prog-rock space cadets Muse have announced the release of their fifth studio album, The Resistance , for September 14 with massive world touring to follow. I had thought they might feasible V Fest Toronto headliners, following their shiny red-jumpsuited performance at the first [...]

Australian lo-fi garage rock band An Horse is back in the States and hitting up a few dates. Inspired by a grammatically incorrect sweater, An Horse is duo Kate Cooper (guitar/vox) and Damon Cox (drums). They've been on Letterman, on tour w/ Death Cab and are now skipping quickly back through the States. I saw An Horse this past January w/ Appleseed Cast in Chapel Hill. Though that combo seemed to fit on paper, the crowd was really a bunch of punk rock kids who somehow liked The Appleseed Cast from their affiliation w/ The Militia [...]

Since this week is rather slim for new releases, I thought it would be a good time to reflect on the first half of 2009 with a "Best of 2009 So Far" list. Between you and me, although this year has been amazing thus far, I'm even more excited for what has yet to come. An Horse is coming to Denver, the Hi-Dive specifically, on the 23rd of this month and they're going to play some music. how fantastic! color me excited. You may remember my review of their recent album . C-ya there :) An Horse - Postcards

Frank Yang So if an artist has already proven themselves to be gifted at both writing a song and recording it, as was the case with Michael Lerner of Telekinesis , is it really fair to expect them to be superb live performers as well? Especially if you take into account the fact that the album - Telekinesis! - was essentially a solo project and the band assembled after the fact? I say not really. Obviously a scintillating stage show would be welcome, but I went [...]

Congratulations to MANSION who just announced that they've been picked up by SPG/Universal. Their first single, "Gasaida" drops on August 1. Good things are coming to this Toronto duo thanks to their killer bootlegs and growing profile. Their latest remix for AN HORSE could be a test of their commercial clout as well as the pair's ability to introduce any tune to a dancefloor. The innocuous intro on this indie cut gives way to a filtered breakdown and a rolling sandpaper-like bassline. MP3: [...]

An Horse is a boy/girl indie rock band from Australia popping out some sweet, pretty tracks. However, Mansion has taken their sweet sound and transformed it into a electro house track that makes it even more danceable and floor ready. Mansion have been popping out some sweet remixes lately, and this is another one to add to the list. EnjoY! An Horse - Camp Out (MANSION Remix)
I for one appreciate randomness, especially when it comes to remixes. I mean, An Horse , really? Sure, why not! MANSION just signed to SPG/Universal, and the first single "Gasaida" comes out August 1st. You can watch the new-ish video for the song here . An Horse - Camp Out (MANSION REMIX) [yousendit]

Our good friends MANSION hit us up with another quality remix last night. Shit just keeps coming. Its a great indie turned house track, this time taking the infectious vocals of Australia's Ah Horse and turning it into a driving dance floor groove; perfect dancefloor material right here. It was a cool summer's Sunday night in Chicago and where was the Tart? Well darlings, I've been looking forward to this An Horse/Telekinesis show for weeks and let's get this out of the way right from the get go... they did not disappoint! I got there extra early, as I had been promised a brief interview with Kate Cooper and Damon Cox of An Horse , before the show by their PR rep, Marni Warner (thanks so much!). Schubas is a cozy place; I've been there many times, and back in the day it was a [...]

In 2008 they toured the United States as an opening act for Tegan and Sara, prior to the release of their first album. In August 2008, they opened for Death Cab for Cutie for their Australian tour. They released their fourth LP in March of this year, Rearrange Beds. An Horse-Camp Out [...]

Jenny Jimenez As I've been complaining to anyone who'll listen , the fact that it was the first of June yesterday - less than three weeks to Summer - and only ten degrees centigrade on my bike ride to work (that's 50 Fahrenheit for you residing in non-metric backwaters) was simply unacceptable. But maybe it's the result of some sort of climatological karmic balancing act to make up for one of the Summeriest records of the year so far, the almost self-titled debut (the record title has an "!" tacked on) from Seattle's [...]

Frank Yang It seems a bit ridiculous to say that I was in New York City on Friday night with nothing to do, but right up until the middle of last week, it looked like that was what it was going to be. Which isn't to say I would have spent the evening watching television in my hotel room... but that was certainly not beyond the realm of possibility. I'd been considering hitting up the Friday night show of NYC Popfest , despite not knowing any of the acts on the bill, mainly because Don [...]
