Things are going to be a little bit different this week. Sure, there's the usual batch of Tuesday releases, but a special event this weekend called Record Store Day will mean another slew are coming on Saturday. If you don't know what Record Store Day is, expect a whole bunch of limited edition (and mostly vinyl) records to be out in indie stores across the country. We try not to let our Tuesday radar down while we anticipate the weekend, so we hope you're still ready to hear about what's new now like Ana Lola [...]

DIY-chanteuse Ana Lola Roman releases her new EP Keep It Mellow today (buy it here ), a blistered 3-track weird synth-pop piece. I've compared her with the likes of Grimes and Laurel Halo in the past , which still seems fitting today. A full-length album Even Assassins have Lovers and Romances is expected to be released this Summer.

Recommended Show: SUNDAY, APRIL 8, 2012 ANA LOLA ROMAN @ ZEBULON 258 Wythe Ave Brooklyn, NY 11211 $TBA, 9PM Ana Lola Roman has been in the depths of the New York City underground for some years now, but we see her shining through the dirt to become a new star very soon. Well TEEEL is just a reMix machine these days. The past couple of week have seen him drop loads of new tune. Not that we're complaining, especially with his latest, a mix of Ana Lola Roman 's 'Telegram'. Reimagining Ana Lola as some kind of dreamlike Italo Disco diva, this reMix. Rolling bass and rich synths wash over each other building to a sweeping chorus, the vocals in this track acting almost and another instrument, weaving in and out of the electronics. TEEL has crafted the track to walk the thin line between dancefloor and [...]

These two artists are a match made in 80's Stephen King film-heaven (see Firestarter ). On this amazing remix for "Klutch", Roman provides the fluttering, beguiling melodies that recall Nina Hagen and Roxy Music while Seth Haley ( Com Truise ) adds gorgeous layers of dripping disco synths. It re-imagines an era when our music culture was so malleable and excited about the use of electronics. Check [...]

There is a tiny corner of the universe where Roxy Music, Nina Hagen and David Bowie intersect. Ana Lola Roman 's forthcoming self-released single, "No Architect", lives perfectly within that space. So many interesting and abstract textures colliding all at once -- an infinite warehouse of influences from electro-pop to glam to super dry new-wave. The rhythms become increasingly propulsive with synthetic, plastic coatings of keyboard melodies walking you through a musical adventure. It all sets a backdrop for some truly wacky vocal stylings that will either enthrall you or make [...]

analolaroman.com / Facebook I seem to be on a cycle of artists returning after around six months off the blog, Ana Lola Roman featured here in March with her wonderful debut single 'Jigsaw / Klutch' (check it out if you haven't already), the follow up 'No Architect' will be available November 7th and it's an absolute knock-out. You can stream an extended version below, it's just great. From its extra-long intro of pounding drum machine beats, looping synthetic effects and driving piano melody you know it's a special [...]

The difficulty with electronic music is that, being easily tweakable to within an inch of its creator's idea of perfection, the need for vocals is almost completely disposed with. No further explanation is needed: the music inherently explains everything it wants to. Mere words are in danger of becoming a further, wanted layer of complexity sitting on a finely-honed stream of soundwaves. So how does Ana Lola Roman tackle this quandry? The sensible way, which is to closely integrate the words with the sounds: Klutch is the result of symbiosis between the [...]

YrFriendMatthew and our friend Ana Lola Roman (Matt's our friend too) have been collaborating for what seems like forever on this video for Roman's "15 Minute God". That's not a knock to either of them, we know true genius takes time, but as I was saying to Matt while he photographed our recent hi-jinx, I was getting a tad frustrated seeing all the updates and stills being shared on their Facebook walls. Enough teasing already, I want to see it! Then came monday and BAM! H...

The video for Ana Lola Roman 's intriguing 15 Minute God is a perfect fit: lots of colors, dancing and bizareness (the good kind) all around. Directed by Matthew Caron .

Third one today. Can't help it. Ana Lola Roman swam into my heart, my brain and my sub-conciousness tonight and I can't get enough of this track. It just hypnotizes me and keeps me in it's chokehold for hours. Ana Lola Roman was born in Oklahoma and has yet moved to New York/Berlin to make it happen. And I don't doubt a second she won't. Her avant-garde pop reminds me of Nico and Laurie Anderson brought from their youth to 2012 with a time-machine. Ana's Jigsaw/Klutch single will be out on June 20th. I know I [...]

-photo by Matthew Caron mp3: Ana Lola Roman - Klutch I first discovered Ana Lola Roman when she did a guest spot at Selective Tuesdays , our weekly DJ collective in Bushwick at Tandem Bar . A few months later, she has an impressive debut single in the form of "Klutch", a tribal synth track that harkens to the experimental early days of groundbreaking artists like Anne Clark, Laurie Anderson, and Kate Bush. Not to say what Roman is doing here isn't fresh [...]

Com Truise blends Ana Lola Roma n 's eerie vocals through his mid-fi synth-wave machine, which results into this splendid remix of Klutch . Here 's the original in case you somehow missed that.

Ana Lola Roman 's new jam 15 Minute God dazzles your ears, mind and world. If Seeing. Is Believing. Then get your FIST OUT. HIT ME SQUARE IN THE JAW.

http://www.analolaroman.com/ Ana Lola Roman is a Multi-Instrumentalist, Singer/Songwriter based in Brooklyn who came in my attention through a quick post on artrocker the other week. She is about to release her debut single Jigsaw / Klutch on April 11th (although I've read 18th as well). "Jigsaw" is an intense blend of rhythmatic percussion with a looping-pulsating beat that uses rickety electronic samples and classical piano to compelling effect with a wonderfully confident vocal that when all put into the musical mixing pot comes out as a distinctive dance-floor friendly [...]
In the same row as Grimes and Laurel Halo, you can find Ana Lola Roma n . Originally from Germany but now residing in Brooklyn, this lady combines a lot of genres, and she does it really well. "A hypnotic electronic off-kilter piano and synths, with a choppy dream-like vocal overlay flickered with an almost Björk-esque delivery", sometimes press releases just hit the nail on the head. Enjoy her first (proper) single Klutch ; an album is expected sometime this year.
