Brendan Angelides, best known for his work as Eskmo (a dubstep/breakbeat producer associated with well-loved labels like Ninjatune and Planet Mu), just released a track from his upcoming side project, Welder . The track, "Run", may have a familiar feel for those familiar with Eskmo's work, but incorporates a more lo-fi, playful tone, blending organic and digital production as he moves further away from the "dubstep" genre label. The vacuous, meditative landscapes Ancestors construct speak louder than the stoner posturing the music may imply on first impression. It sinks in with each gradual increment, leisurely unfolding its psychedelic layers with an introspective stance. Gonjasufi is pretty awesome. Honestly, I don't know much beyond the two facts that 1) I love his track "Ancestors", gorgeous! And 2) This new video for "DedNd" is pretty killer. "Enter Gonjasufi... a mystical individual caught between the Mojave desert, the LA streets and somewhere more cosmic. His soul-baring vocals are something to behold - described by friend and collaborator Flying Lotus as "Timeless Incredible Filth". -Warp Records
