Since this is all about pop punk, does anyone remember the Big Show 2 in Elgin? Zoinks! played that show as did Slapstick, The Bollweevils, Oblivion, No Empathy, Boris The Sprinkler, Jon Cougar Concentration Camp, 4 Squares, and more. The first thing that entered my mind when I heard Anchor Arms' debut full-length Cold Blooded was that they had the classic Gainesville punk rock sound. You know, sludgey and loose mid-tempo punk rock with gruff shredded-throat whiskey-soaked vocals. The songs are catchy, but not too catchy, but with enough "whoa's" and such that you might just want to sing along (as if you could even resist).
