I woke up this morning, ready to grab my badge and camera and head to Fader Lounge for a breakfast Red Stripe. Once I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes, I realized that it was Monday. Back to work. No more free drinks. No more bandfest during the day. Sigh. I was a little bit sad. I'm sure the sadness will lessen as the days go by and I start to count down the days to SXSW. Austin is already calling my name. Anyways, here's a mix for you to enjoy. Back to regularly scheduled posts [...]

This is my little blog moment to celebrate the lives of those who went before. There is a saying among genealogists that goes something like, "Those who do not preserve the memories of their ancestors are likely to be forgotten themselves." We all know another saying, "If we do not remember history, we are doomed to repeat it." The Day of the Dead is an ancient Aztec celebration in memory of deceased ancestors, celebrated on November 1 (All Saints' Day) and November 2 (All Souls' Day). The holiday is especially popular in Mexico, Guatemala, the [...]
The band from Austin, Texas, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead are back next month with their new album So Divided. It's been pushed back three times now, but looks like it will finally be released...
Howsit? Box.net was broken last night so this is a day late. Apologies! I've been a very bad LJ'er since I got back from my trip home. One month without frequent computer use has only made it harder for me to pay attention to what's going on. Last week's post was a bit of a cop-out (aside from one amazing anecdote from erinzdad ; I'm your number one fan Mathew. Tonight you get some indie pop of sorts. Luckily I was [...]
Well, well, well. Looks like someone's been listening to The Beatles White Album on repeat. On their upcoming release So Divided , Trail of Dead (...And You Will Know Us By The... has been dropped) flex their melodic skills by channeling the fuzzed out, dirty rock that dominates one of the best Beatles albums. Laying off the pummeling sound they are known for, TOD instead rely on hooks that lay in wait just beneath the surface of the track; only to reveal themselves after repeated spins. While I am [...]
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead have released a new MP3 from their upcoming album So Divided . The album comes out November 14th, and the new song is called "Wasted State of Mind." Check it out below. Trail of Dead - Wasted State of Mind

Trail of Dead are never going to make another Source Tags and Codes. To most, this statement shouldn't be necessary. However, I know there's a few people out there wanting to hear Return of Source Tags and Codes or Source Tags and Codes Strike Back. It should have been apparent after 2005's Worlds Apart that the band were moving forward. No longer was tension built solely by sonic force and released in the breaks between songs, now the band were taking a more dynamic and nuanced approach to their [...]

Next month ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead will release their 5th full length album So Divided . The sound is definitely a bit of a departure for these Texas noisemakers who were known once upon a time for self-destructing at the end of each show. But I guess that expectation probably gets old pretty quickly, and now they've moved on and conjured up something much less bombastic. In retrospect, I think it's fair to say these guys were pretty overhyped once upon a time (Pitchfork awarded Source Tags & [...]

I remember in college a friend tried to turn me onto ...And You Know Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead and I just never picked it up. He kept telling me, "dude, i can't believe you don't listen to them..." Fast forward to today and the fact that their touring in support of their new album, So Divided , I might actually pick these guys up and try to catch their Halloween show at House of Blues. Their new single rules... [...]

Trail of Dead "Wasted State of Mind" (da [...]

Hey there troopers...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead is coming out with their new album, "So Divided" on November 14. What do I have to say about the album so far? I think it is a marked improvement over "World's Apart". I must warn you though, that those expecting "Source Tags And Codes II" will be disapointed. They've continued to expand their sound, adding some prog elements, and I kid you not when I say I can hear some Genesis and Annie Lennox in here. In addition, they've continued to flesh [...]

I'm never really a big fan of free compilation CD's but the good folks over at Insound managed to put together a one-stop listening affair for current indie music. Big hitters include TV On The Radio, The Decemberists, The Rapture, and many others. (I also like the fact that it was free to all and therefore I won't be getting any copyright letters). Thought I'd pass it along.... ::: The Big Sleep - Murder ::: Tokyo Police Club - Shoulders & Arms [...]
OK ok. I know I am just asking for a cease and desist letter here, Idolator just got their first , and this would be my second ... so here it goes. I really like this song but I need to hear more of the whole record to get a better idea. I have loved everything Trail of Dead has done since Madonna , including their last album, that everyone hated .. Anyway, here is one of the tracks from So Divided. I think it's great and pretty anthemic: [...]

SUPERGRASS - I Should CoCo Jul 18, 1995 Capitol One of the wonderful bands to come out of the whole Britpop 90`s thing..It was the song "Alright" (Feat. in commercials and some movies) that made me a fan of Supergrass waaay back in the day.. Just about everybody knows that one of my favourite bands making albums these days is ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead . A few weeks ago we heard that a new album was due to be released in early October. Today, I came across even more great news. Apparently Rolling Stone was given a chance to preview the album and the resulting article drops several pieces of news. First, Conrad Keely noted that the tentative title for the new album is So Divided . [...]
I'm way behind in posting my weekly Sirius radio playlists. The last one I posted was Week 8 . Here's the playlist from Week 11 (8/15/2006). ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead will be playing at "Washington University", which I take to mean the Gargoyle, with The Blood Brothers on October 29. If it is the Gargoyle, this will be a loud, sold out show. Trail of Dead has a new album coming out on October 3rd and The Blood Brothers' new CD, Young Machetes , is coming out on October 10 ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail [...]
