Andras Fox 's mini-LP Daydreaming has arrived at the perfect time; while Melbourne is dangling on the brink of a fiercely cold winter, here we can dive into the audible summer of some old vinyl crackle and hiss spread throughout this warm, sample-laden record. Released through prolific local label and sound collective //THIS THING// , producer Andras Fox (aka Andy Wilson ) has supplied us with a brief introduction to his burgeoning talent. Daydreaming stands unique against most other sample based tracks around today, evident in the quirky and unusual selection of sounds [...]

Melbourne-based label and sound collective //THIS THING// has developed a quick word-of-mouth cult following since its recent inception. Comprising of several local DJs/electronic acts, the group have put on stellar live sets across Melbourne (including a seminal collaborative show at Golden Plains) in the past year. The Phoenix Public House opened its doors to celebrate the debut release of not only one, but four of the acts involved in the collective; Max Crumbs , Wooshie , Andras Fox and Galapagoose . Warm-up came from RRR presenter Simon Winkler, churning out the [...]

2010 Red Bull Music Academy participant , Andras Fox , hails from Melbourne and has a mini LP entitled, Daydreaming , coming out on This Thing in the coming month. The two track dance trigger falls back on its sharp funkadelic portal to create a feel-good vibe for the millions. 'That's All', takes on a garage disco haze that will make the body sway and make the head bop like it's 1975. The second track, 'ABCs', is a fine down-tempo daydreamer, plain and simple. The two short and sweet tracks will be [...]

Henri Rousseau never went to the Jungle. He spent all his days in Paris and surrounds, meticulously painting images of nature that were anything but 'natural'. He copied his designs from botanical gardens, zoo pamphlets, and children's books, depicting animals that would never be seen in the same environment. Once he even painted a hand of bananas growing upside down. His paintings are naive, flat and disjointed. This playlist is a musical equivalent to Rousseau paintings - "Jungle" music made by westerners. Electronic emulation of african sounds, drum machines instead of djembé. Starts off mellow before moving into more disjointed territory. [...]

"27th day. Have rested and am moving south. All is well. Kerans." So he left the lagoon and entered the jungle again, within a few days was completely lost, following the lagoons southward through the increasing rain and heat, attacked by alligators and giant bats, a second Adam searching for the forgotten paradises of the reborn sun. "When the Compact Disc first emerged in the 1980s, it participated in the undermining of one of our most long-held assumptions. With the C.D., the whole distinction between Side A and Side B of the old vinyl record was collapsed. With the C.D., all the tracks are on the one side." - Gyorgy Scrinis, from the essay "CDs & Other Things". 1. Kraan - Young King's Song (Flyday, 1978) 2. D.R. A house constitutes a body of images that give mankind proofs or illusions of stability. We are constantly re-imagining its reality: to distinguish all these images would be to describe the soul of the house; it would mean developing a veritable psychology of the house... They give us back areas of being, houses in which the human being's certainty of being is concentrated, and we have the impression that, by living in such images as these, in images that are as stabilizing as these are, we could start a new life, a life that would be our own, that would [...]

"Definitive, once-and-for-all developments seem no longer appropriate to musical thought as it is today, or to the actual state that we have reached in the evolution of musical technique, which is increasingly concerned with the investigation of a relative world, a permanent 'discovering' rather like the state of 'permanent revolution'." "Matter thus offers an infinitely porous, spongy, or cavernous texture without emptiness, caverns endlessly contained contained in other caverns: no matter how small, each body contains a world of pierced with irregular passages, surrounded and penetrated by an increasingly vaporous fluid, the totality of the universe resembling a pond of matter in which there exist different flows and waves." .... She dives into the lake and comes up with her head covered in muck and great kelpy strands of green pond slime - and beaming in a way that practically radiates out over the face of the lake and the desert. She has surfaced euphoric - 'Ooooooh! It sparkles!' -Pulling her long strands of slime-slithering hair outward with her hands and grokking and freaking over it - 'Ooooooh! It sparkles!' -The beads of water on her slime strands are like diamonds to her, and everybody feels her feeling at once, even Sandy - 'Ooooooh! [...]

"Defenestration is the act of throwing someone or something out of a window. The term was coined around the time of an incident in a Prague Castle in the year of 1618. The word comes from the Latin de (from; out of) and fenestra (window or opening). Although defenestrations can be fatal due to the height of the window through which a person is thrown, or lacerations from broken glass, the act of defenestration need not carry the intent or result of death." - wiki Mulatu Astatke & [...]
