There are many festivals out there that aim to bring in as big a crowd as possible by booking hot, in-demand acts. Portland, Oregon's Pickathon goes in a different direction. Pickathon founder Zale Schoenborn goes after bands that play "good music" despite any labels attached to them or their ability to sell tickets. Every Memorial Day, I think about a flying to Portland and making the drive to Washington for Sasquatch. I haven't been this "jazzed" about a festival lineup in quite some time due to the amount of music festivals making the rounds.
