Oh, my loves, it is the month of love, and I do love love! I am not one of the bitter single people; no, I relish the chance to listen to my favorite love songs and stuff myself silly with all manners of candy. So I present to you, my wonderful valentines playlist. Or it could be a galentines playlist, or a guyentines playlist. It’s always great to bro down with some love songs, right? You have to start off with the classic; God Only Knows what we’d do without the Beach Boys. Then Ben Gibbard [...]

Sasquatch! 2013 (May 24-27, 2013) The lineup for the 2013 Sasquatch! Music Festival (May 24-27, 2013) dropped this morning/last night with a bomb. Headliners for this year’s festival include: Mumford & Sons, The Postal Service, The xx, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and Vampire Weekend . For my money, this is a pretty great looking festival lineup. (If I were a betting man, I'd say this one will sell out even faster than any year's past.) Four day Sasquatch Festival passes go on sale to the general public on Feb [...]

Festival line-up announcement season is in full swing, reminding us that the cold will soon let up and we'll be able to rock out to our favorite music in the sunshine. Every year, we rave about how incredible Sasquatch! Festival is, with the breathtaking views of The Gorge in Washington and the laid back vibes you get camping with mostly Northwesterners and Canadians (they are SO nice). This year is no different. The Postal Service continue their tour of festivals with a headlining gig this year, joining Mumford [...]

Every Memorial Day, I think about a flying to Portland and making the drive to Washington for Sasquatch. I haven't been this "jazzed" about a festival lineup in quite some time due to the amount of music festivals making the rounds. It's probably the most complete lineup (headliners not included) and the Postal Service is near the top. SASQUATCH! Well, it took a bit longer than expected (losing your job in November and having a baby in January will disrupt the blog-writing process a bit), but Given and Taken in Ink's list for best albums of 2012 is finally here. This year, a handful of bands came out of nowhere and blew me away. I knew right away that debut albums from Drew Smith and The Rest would stand among the best releases of the year. They are joined by 28 other great albums, by artists well-known and obscure. I'm pleased that GTI's 2012 list is a [...]

It starts on a Wednesday, with a faint feeling of not-rightness about the head, as if the senses were secretly, suddenly drunk. And you can't teach like this, so you check yourself out early from work, a pre-emptive strike that gives false hope Thursday morning but ultimately fails: by Thursday night the throat begins to swell and catch, shrugging itself into place like a cachet of blankets, and the body remembers: this is how it begins, and it's not going to be fun. Friday morning marks the first of 5 days of high fever [...]

Nostalgia por los slap delays, melancolía por la música orgánica, sencillez de ejecución, guitarras acústicas, percusión con escobillas y un melodioso violín; elementos que en conjunto construyen la ingeniosa sonoridad de Andrew Bird.
After the smorgasbord of country music that featured in my bit of either/or's best of 2012 post , you'd think I'd be up for a reprieve this year. No such luck! If anything, I'm pretty damn consistent. Today's spot of country comes from a chap called Andrew Bird, and like all great country music, it's mournful, pretty, and sung with an amazing elegance. More please!

Singer-violinist, Andrew Bird has said he's working on a television programme for kids called 'Professor Socks' TV Show'. The bizarre project, which Bird confirmed in an interview with Hit Fix , is said to be a live-action show with Bird taking the role of the lead character. Bird's character, the aforementioned 'Professor Socks', has been described as a "confused professor who's out to lunch on most scientific facts" and who is transported "to other vocational worlds" every time he puts his socks on. The [...]

Chris ' Top Lists of 2012 This was a good year for music. It usually always is. Mostly, the more one pays attention to new material, the more they think, “This was a good year for music”. It’s safe to say that a lot of the bands I adored back in college took a break this year (save a few, see below), which left a power vacuum in my heart. This year I made a point not to be a jackass in my review, let’s see if it works. [...]
