It's amazing what a talented musician can do with around four minutes of elapsed time. Andrew Cedermark, formerly of sprawling tour de force Titus Andronicus, quite impressively uses the four or so minutes of "From Memory" to take the listener on a veritable journey. From the agitating roar of the first ten seconds to the [...]

[ MP3 ] Andrew Cedermark - Ad Infinitum (from Underwater Peoples Winter Review ) (via Pitchfork )
Andrew Cedermark - Hard Livin' I got this a pretty rad mixtape made by Ears of the Beholder called Is It Over Yet? . I believe he comes via Underwater Peoples .

Underwater People s are fantastic label. I have their last compilation which just came in the mail this weekend along with the Real Estate Live on the Radio LP. Once again they have made a new compilation which you can get for free (for a limited time...and I can't imagine it will be that much longer) at the awesome Chocolate Bobka . Don't sleep on this one! Thanks Underwater Peoples...You are fantastic. PS. I am still on the fence about the buying the Alex Bleeker LP, if you have any great suggestions email me!
Tradition makes life routine but this is LivingEars' 2nd year end and it looks as though 51 songs is here to stay. Underwater Peoples have very quickly shouldered up a cabal of mid-Atlantic acts that, better than any other small label, express what keeps indie rock going. The three headed monster may be bloodied and dragging its feet, but it's these sort of scuzzy, clever melodies and dabs of noise and playful jams dribbled over comfortable song palettes that form the lifeblood that keeps the beast alive. Call it lo-fi, when it really i...
One of the many promising artists releasing music for D.C. based label Underwater Peoples , Andrew Cedermark will be releasing a split 7"with Family Portrait. From that is Cedermark's excellent "Hard Livin'," a rustic pocket epic that has splashes of the blues, Americana and the lo-fi revival. The accompanying video shows footage from China, rotating between clips of a scenic motorcycle ride, live concert footage, and other random shots of the country. Check out the dancing that erupts once the song's cavalcade of cymbals hits. [...]
Three things: 1. I was in New York for the last week, so please excuse my lack of posting. I love you all, so very much, and would never abandon you with out a lengthy, tear-stained farewell. 2. I played clarinet in high school. I was one of three gentleman who [...]

The incredibly dapper fellows from Family Portrait and other label pals Andrew Cedermark have set out together and created a 73 split to drop on the brilliant Underwater Peoples label. As you may already know, we've become quite fond of the FP bunch and Brody's near Freudian ability to channel the unconscious and now we're given an opportunity to become more familiar with Cedermark's (formerly of Titus Andronicus) works. Each of the 4 tracks on this EP play off of each other effortlessly and is well worth the $7 + S&H. Pre-orders are [...]

This week's show had more listeners than any show I've done. The same was true the week prior. Things are picking up, people are catching on and this music is getting picked up on by more and more blogs and media outlets. Just check out the genrewars post below for one heated example. The interview with Andrew Cedermark went well. We discussed the fateful only-one-person-in-attendance (me!) show he played with Titus Andronicus last year, why he left the band after getting signed to XL, he mentioned a handful of bands we should be checking out, [...]

I am very excited to announce that on this Saturday's Scene Not Heard I will be interviewing the one, the only, Andrew Cedermark. The interview should start right around 9:30PM MDT and you can tune in online at UtahFM.org . Who is Andrew Cedermark you may ask? Andrew played guitar on my favorite album of last year , Titus Andronicus' The Airing of Grievances. Recently, Andrew left the band, moved back to his hometown of Charlottesville, VA and began putting together some really beautiful music of his own. I only have [...]
