Welcome to Flashion Forward, a new UI feature in which we endeavor to explore the ever-expanding universe of sonic style. Each week, we'll pluck a recently added interview from our warehouse of current clips and try to read between the artist's sartorial lines. Fashion and music often make strange bedfellows, and while we won't dare attempt to penetrate the existential mystery that is heinous rock dude's inexplicable ability to bed every model west of the Volga River, we will take our greasy paws and grapple with more prosaic perplexities-such as trying to figure out WTF it is [...]

Adult Swim + Andrew WK + Cheeseburger +Jon Glaser + Free Admission = Awesomeness. Friday night @ Santos Party House . What's not to like? See you there! Cheeseburger - "Tiger" mp3

Cheeseburger is the Brooklyn band that sings the dirtbag-rocker "Comin' Home", the theme song to Superjail! , the best show on Adult Swim. So far, there are no versions of this song on the internet longer than 30 seconds, but the song is amazing and I need to hear it. If you know where to find a full version of this tune I will give you a dry H.J. If you ARE Cheeseburger , congratulations, you're my new favorite band. FIND ME THIS SONG [...]

If you know what's good for you, you'll head to Fluxblog today to grab "Kiseki," a track from Andrew W.K.'s all-J-Pop covers album. At Matthew Perpetua puts it, "It's difficult not to get swept up in the moment of the song, and its outsize optimism and over-the-top sentimentality," and isn't that what today's all about? [ Fluxblog ]
Andrew W.K. : Commercialism Calling . What Andrew W.K. didn't mention in his Uncensored Interview was his new TV show ! There aren't many details about the show so far, though it wouldn't be his first television show . So what form will this new program take? Will it be a variety show like the Osbournes ? A talk show like Henry Rollins? Lord only knows. The only clue we have is that there will be a studio audience. A part of me hopes it will be a show for [...]
Andrew W.K. "Kiseki" The ironic thing about Andrew W.K.'s album of J-Pop covers is that it is only available in Japan, which is perhaps the one place on earth where it is least useful. If you are a Japanese music fan, you probably know all of the selections on The Japan Covers , and the value of the record comes down to the novelty of hearing them performed in AWK's distinct style. For most everyone else, AWK is providing a curatorial service - a crash course in his favorite J-Pop numbers, with all of the [...]

Are you interested in being in the studio audience for the taping of a TV show hosted by motivational partier Andrew WK? Are you able to articulate why that particular activity might interest you in less than 100 words? Can you be free and in the New York City area on Jan. 28? Then this might be your lucky day. (Heck, it might be mine!) [ Andrew WK's MySpace Blog ]
I'm not a fan of Herr Andrew W.K. ( myspace ); I Get Wet gave me nightmares wherein I was being repeatedly slammed in the nads by The Lollipop Guild. Nor, despite my Shiina Ringo worship (OMG Antlers! ), am I a fervid proponent of J-Pop. But listening to W.K.'s Japan-only CD of J-Pop covers is like ejaculating root beer. In a good way. It's a delicious mixture of urgency, syrup, and broken English. You might have to brush your teeth vigorously after listening, but that's okay. I [...]
:: Andrew W.K. recently did an interview with SmartassRadio.com , where he talks about his Japanese advice book. Yeah, that left me scratching my head, too. :: Lily Allen paid a visit to Jools Holland for New Year's Eve. Is she in again or not? I can't keep up. :: Maura at Idolator seems to be at least mildly optimistic about pop music in 2009. :: Aquarium Drunkard has some Jeff Mangum ( Neutral Milk Hotel ) live tracks from way, way back [...]

Top Ten Live Shows of 2008 Happy New Year everyone! This is definitely a personal list for me and I hope you'll find something to take away from it! I'd like to hear about some of your favourite shows from the past year as well so please don't hesitate to comment! It was really hard to choose just 10 shows for this list because my 2008 calendar was filled. Not only had I been to a lot shows, they also spanned many genres, which made it that much more difficult to narrow them down. Rather than [...]
Make sure you sing ' Louie Louie ' sometime during your New Year's Eve - sing it like Andrew WK does right here (with Ted Leo and the RX behind him).

What : Akron/Family curates NYE 2008 Where : Knitting Factory Who : Akron/Family, Deerhoof, Deer Tick, Dirty Projectors, Megafaun, & More! When : 8pm Cost : $100 VIP, $65 General Admin+Free Booze, $35 General Admin What to Expect : The final show in the long running history of the current Manhattan location (they're moving to Lit's old building) of the Knitting Factory is probably the safest bet of the show going evening. [...]

Are you looking for the best way to ring in 2009? New Year's Eve is too pressure-filled to ever fully enjoy so if none of your friends want to risk losing the deposit on their apartment by having a ridiculous party, check out one of these NYE parties in NYC or London. None of them will break the bank and they all get the TLC stamp of approval! LONDON : [...]

Apparently, uber-hipster party boy Nicky Digital has been getting folks to do a series of party mixes that precede some NYC parties. Not to be outdone — or outpartied — by anyone, Andrew W.K. weighed in with some jams . I didn't actually listen to the mix, but that's mainly because I couldn't get the mp3 to load. Not a way to win hard-partying fans. Speaking of getting your crunk on, I've heard whispers that the guy is rather mild-mannered, despite his image as someone who likes to party hard (surprisingly perpetuated by songs like [...]
Another episode of Beardo, in which Tim Harrington of Les Savy Fav leads a choir of notable indie musicians in a rousing chorus to show support for... trust fund babies? How many rock stars can you identify? No points for Andrew WK or Moby . You don't get off that easy.

(photo by Melissa Hom) Including tracks from Bad Brilliance, Gary Glitter, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Plushgun and, of course, himself, Andrew WK completed a holiday edition to the "Pre-Party Jamz" series that our good friend Nicky Digital has been having some of the best DJs/producers/artists complete over the last few months. You can download the mixtape (for all of your yuletide partying) here . (mp3) Andrew WK - I Love NYC Godspeed!

Some albums are like a party in a box - put it on the stereo and you know you're going to have a good time. Plushgun bounces in to the room, passes out the glowsticks, hands you a beer and tells you to dance. The pumping synth lines are a perfect foil to Brooklyn-based Daniel Ingala's sensitive wordsmith tendencies that work to create addictive indie-pop with a bittersweet edge. Watch "Just Impolite" video : Plushgun [...]
Only the most evil scenesters among you have likely heard of Orphan, a two-piece bass n' drums metal act that reeks of Dale Crover's coveted ball sweat and the undeniable stench of sulfur. It's hard for any band these days to achieve maximum exposure by releasing its debut album exclusively on vinyl and limited [...]
![No. 80: Andrew WK, "McLaughlin Groove" [80 '08 (And Heartbreak)]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1394660_lg.jpg)
Who would have thought, back in March, that it would seem plausible to take down the right wing through mockery rather than righteous indignation? Andrew WK, of course. He took an exchange from The McLaughlin Group in which loudmouthed conservative talk-show-host John McLaughlin speculated on the possibility of John McCain's accidental death (while misquoting Carl Sandburg and predicting that "the next man on the moon will be Chinese") and turned it into an anthemic demonstration of how anything sounds true when it's yelled loudly enough.
