The VPME The Android Angel is the musical alter ego of Paul Coltofeanu and is a project that is more rooted in reality than the surreal dream pop fantasy of his other musical project, the acclaimed Free Swim. Ostensibly whimsical there's a depth of feeling and wry melancholia when you scratch the surface of these seeming innocent melodic, reflective tunes, maybe none more so than on the title track of the forthcoming album ' Lie Back and Think of England. ' Featuring a beautiful guest vocal from Sarah Mahony and uncompromising lyrics such as ' Lie [...]

The Stiffcast is not the cheap innuendo I am sure you assume it to be. No no no, not that sort of stiff, the sort where every joint and muscle in your body aches because you are woefully out of shape and attempting to run around like a teenager. That sort of stiff. Yes, after three months out with a groin strain (no sniggering at the back, please) I have tried to go back to the gym and to five-a-sides over the last week or two with what can only be described as somewhat [...]

I Said Yes - "Follow On" from I Said Yes EP out 11 March 2013 "Follow On" is simply sublime. Beautifully arranged with chirping guitar chords, well-placed horns, and splish-splashy cymbals. If this doesn't put a skip in your step, you should go directly to the morgue. Check out more I Said Yes here . Cheers to our tipster from Essex. Android Angel - "Her Shoulders" [...]

Well, isn't this just delightful. Her Shoulders ' rich harmonious tones and heartfelt hazed lyrics sure make for a longing sense of belonging. With its intrinsic and delicate nature you're left with nothing more than the comfort and aching sense of blissful romanticism felt throughout the music. Stream it above. The new single is taken from the forthcoming album Lie Back and Think of England due out this year. f: www.facebook.com/theandroidang el

I'm pleased to premiere a track from The Android Angel today, who're currently on the 6music radar. Her Shoulders is a rather heartbreaking 3 and a half minutes - romantic, raw and honest - it features on the album Lie Back and Think of England out later this year. Stream below:

Android Angel - "Chicago John" from Lie Back and Think of England out sometime in 2013 on Sex Farm Records Paul Coltofeanu aka Android Angel wrote most of this album while volunteering on a farm in the Romanian mountains during the Summer of 2011. Driven by a contagious keyboard riff, the song uses some well placed guitar licks and deft drum machine programming to keep the groove alive. Once again, Colotfeanu displays a knack for integrating [...]

On Friday, February 18 , we featured the work of Paul Coltofeanu AKA Free Swim. While cheeky and raucous at times, it was well played and highly enjoyable stuff. Coltofeanu is back again. This time it's with his band mates, Joe Truscott and Steve Matthews. If Free Swim is Coltofeanu's Zappa moment, Android Angel is something far more serious and is reminiscent of early XTC, and Pink Floyd during "The Wall" era. Coltofeanu wrote Marble Sun while staying in Brooklyn, NY during the 2010 summer. It's as much of New York album as anything else. [...]

This weeks round up of the tracks that I haven't had the space to post... United Fruit From: Glasgow, Scotland Discordant post rock that'll tear your ears from your head and leave them in a bleeding heap on the floor. Go Try [...]

Glow Worm is the second album by Paul Colto (aka The Android Angel); an artist unwilling to pander to any fad, or attempt to fit into any pigeon hole. Puzzling from the outset, with what sounds like Aerosmith’s ‘Walk This Way’ played on botempi drums opening proceedings. Such non-conformity may well confound expectations; but also provide much of the charm. Regardless of the unconventional sonic palette, the bulk of the record is made up of solid song-writing propelled by relentless ambition. Paul follows in the footsteps of a young Pete Townsend; producing aspirational and emotive [...]
