Correatown is the musical project that Angela Correa has brought to life with her bandmates in the Eastside of LA. Over the years Angela and co have released several lo-fi albums and EPs. For their newest release 'Pleiades' have experimented with some different instrumentation and arrangements. Although these tracks may be using less organic sounds [...]
Correatown's new album, Pleiades, will be released on September 20th. Led by Angela Correa, the L.A. quartet plays a splendid mix of dreamy folk, lo-fi indie rock and electro-pop. This genre-hopping results in a very appealing and extremely diverse range of songs - some tunes could easily fit on an album by The Bird & [...]
SHELLEY SHORT, DARREN HANLON, AND ANGELA CORREA ON SATURDAY MAY 7TH AT LOT 1 CAFE, 1533 WEST SUNSET BOULEVARD, LOS ANGELES. 8:30PM/ $5/ 18+

Angel Correa says it's just evolution. But for the songwriter and compelling voice behind the L.A. quartet Correatown , her new musical direction — which finds her winsome, Americana-oriented folk-pop suddenly elevated to the cumulus of dream-pop — represents education as much as anything. "This has the sound and textures and soundscape-y elements that I was always pushing for," Correa says of the music on the "Etch the Line" EP, which will be out May 31 as a prelude to her second full-length "Pleaides" in September. "I never quite knew how to get there until I met [...]

Portraits by Laurie Scavo Downloads and videos appear below There is a felicity to Los Angeles about which I never want to become cynical. The waitress who hands you pancakes at Millie's might be in a big movie two years later. The kid at the Apple store is working on animation that'll knock your socks off. The nerdy clerk who types listings at the newspaper has the makings of an electro-pop star. The barista is making progress on a novel. The other barista has a gallery show [...]

The spare acoustic folk music of Les Shelleys comes courtesy of two very familiar voices in L.A.'s singer-songwriter circles: Tom Brosseau and Angela Correa (of Correatown ). It's the stuff of sepia-toned photographs and black-and-white movies; the pair met eight years ago and bonded over vintage stuff like Woody Guthrie and Leadbelly. Their self-titled album for Fat Cat Records is just this side of quietude, but proof that you don't need volume to be loud. ||| Download: "World Is Waiting for the Sunrise" [...]

Tweet There's been a lot of indiepop on Eardrums lately, and it probably says a lot about my listening habits. However, - my musical heart beats for other genres too, and Les Shelleys from San Fransisco represent one of them. Les Shelleys are a new project from FatCat records ' Tom Brosseau and his singing partner Angela Correa . I really liked Brosseau's album "Empty houses are lonely" from a couple of [...]
Tom Brosseau & Angela Correa aka Les Shelleys appear in this video from The New Los Angeles Folk Festival to help raise money through Kickstarter for the fest so it can give more money to charity. The festival, taking place August 7 at HM157, is giving $ to the Environmental Defense Fund so it can [...]

It seems like only yesterday when singer-songwriter Tom Brosseau performed at LimeWire Store's Hangover Helper at the Longbranch Inn at SXSW 2009. A year later, Brosseau took the stage with his good friend Angela Correa (who he's been making music with for a decade) as Les Shelleys at the IODA/LimeWire Store Opening Day Bash . LWMB caught up with the duo after their opening set, found out how they met and when we can expect their debut album that's been a decade in the making. [...]
The first time I saw Angela Correa perform was in 2002 at a San Diego coffee shop called Twiggs. It was a quiet evening of about three performers (including me). I played my set first, then someone else, then Angela. She took the stage in a very unassuming manner… I [...]

Our inaugural "Live at Mr. T's Bowl" was a very intimate affair. We kept it low-key (yes, even more low-key than usual) so that we could get a feel for what what kind of an undertaking it would be to do a fairly high quality recording at our beloved T's. So we invited a few of our most favorite artists, set up nine microphones and some video cameras around the room, and lo and behold, it sounded
We've known Ms. Correatown for a little while now. Long enough to know that while the name "Correatown" may encompass its new band members and a new full-band sound, in truth, it's still all about Angela Correa. We briefly met Lady Angela in passing outside of San Diego's singer-songwriter haven Lestat's when she still lived down there some five years ago. We didn't know much about her until
Chapter Three: The Heart of the Order On any busy night in Los Angeles, a lineup like this one might be overlooked. And if you were to do so, it would be a tragedy. The beginnings of this presentation date back circa 2006 upon the arrival of Lenka to America via Australia. Her debut as a solo artist to Los Angeles was considered pretty momentous for anyone who had heard Decoder Ring's 2002
Can anyone argue that getting told 'I love you' feels better than anything in the world? Maybe coming in a close second would be a warm embrace, but words, specifically those words, are magical. And songs with those words are even more magical. So here are some of L.A.'s best heartbreakers for those with or without a hand to hold... We love you. Lavender Diamond - "You Broke My Heart" (MP3)
