Animal Collective has yet again released another single off their up and coming EP Fall Be Kind . This one is called " Graze ". In this track you notice Animal Collective not deviating too far from their experimental roots. The song starts slow, with echoeing vocals playfully chattering back and forth, accompanied by a soft string section and the inconsistant clatter of something that sounds like wooden sticks. It seems funny that Animal Collective choose to release their music for the grimmest of months. January and December - the start of winter and the end of warmth. Their songs are sun-appropriate, uplifting, life-affirming and yet every time I listen to 'Merriweather Post Pavilion' , it works best when I'm chilly. 'Fall Be Kind ' sweetly infuses abstract patterns with the deep bass notes and striking vocal harmonics that helped define the previous album. In just a few days, on November 23rd, there will be a new Animal Collective release upon us. And although we've only heard snippets of the Fall Be Kind EP in all it's polyphonic glory, we'd like to think that the sparkle and carnival whirring of "Graze" is a good indicator that nothing—save for maybe Bob Dylan's psychotic new Christmas album—is going to able get that sucker out of our hi-fi until the holidays have finally wound down.
