Beaty Heart have laid low for a little while now, last appearing back in 2011 on the Slush Puppy/Cola EP, and it appears to have done them the world of good. Seafood, out April 8th on Heart Throb Records, sees them venturing out with the first cut from their debut LP, as well as a clearer sense of what they are trying to be. Oh and they brought along a solid, tropical-pop song to boot. (That comparison in 3, 2, 1…) Animal Collective have always been their most [...]
It's been quite some while already that art-pop daydreamer Airick Woodhead has been hanging around in the Doldrums of blog culture, which automatically creates a dangerous amount of anticipation around this, his début full-length. For his is a name of quiet notoriety already: he's been around the world a couple times touring his scattily collated bits and pieces; done the prerequisite Grimes collaboration. And Lesser Evil even appears to neatly encapsulate both a learned outlook on modern-day electronica, and indeed the sonic identity of his native Montréal. Though why, therefore, does it never quite work as one? [...]

We could, even at this early juncture, veer off on a whimsically prolix tangent as to how bloody freezing the streets of EC2 are tonight. It's often our wont anyway, right? Though this is one on which it feels only meet and right to break with convention, and converge upon a more concentrated reflection of what is, as far as our more current recollections stretch, one of those most cohesively inspiring evenings. Up first is William Doyle, aka East India Youth , aka the first artist ever to have been signed to the Quietus Phonographic Corporation. If [...]

Grossly belated as this may be, there are certain gospels that need preaching at any possible opportunity. And though Floridian Yuno (previously unouomedude) may have released the distinctly estival Sunlight last August, it's a scintillating ray that's still well worth the spreading. Like a jejune Deerhunter intermingled with earlier AnCo recordings and the poppier sensibilities of a certain Chazwick Bundick, it's a suitably warming sliver of shimmering Southeast Coast ebullience, even amid these gelid February climes. The ultimate all year round wonder then, get enlightened below... Sunlight by Yuno Yuno's [...]

![LISTEN TO NEW WHIMSICAL CUT FROM YOUTH LAGOON’S SOPHOMORE LP [STREAM]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4780173_lg.jpg)
Boise's Trevor Powers won us over with the sparse, sincere pop ballads that made up his incredible debut LP, The Year of Hibernation . There was something in that record of a mere eight tracks that possessed a childlike wonder. Equally unintelligible and innocent, Power's vocals created a universally relatable narrative. With Youth Lagoon's follow LP, Wondrous Bughouse , due out March 5 via Fat Possum we get a second taste of the fantastical record with the newest cut, "Mute." At around six-minutes, "Mute" is a story in itself, (d)evolving so naturally you [...]
