I've been digging through my old records lately and I can't believe just how awesome music was between 2003 and 2007. This awesomeness has inspired a new series, The Throwback Mix Series , which will be a six or seven installment set of mixes each containing 20 songs that I loved during that time span - and each mix will be completely rad. Spread the word and be sure to support the artists you enjoy. Neutral Milk Hotel - "Holland, 1945" [...]

I love seeing these videos where animals fight back. We destroy their habitats, we make jerky and we wear their fur, so its only fair they get some cheapshots. Dude is in the middle of a mountain bike race in South Africa when he meets one pissed off antelope. Some of these jawns can weigh 300 lbs.

As a founding member of Tunng, anything Sam Genders puts his mind to is bound to be pretty good, and his is evident in his Diagrams project, which we're big fans of. Earlier in the year he released his self-titled EP, and in January he'll be releasing his debut album, Black Light , but that's still a few months away though, so to tide you over we have this rather awesome remix of 'Antelope' by Bass Clef to check out. Enjoy! [...]
</p Wow. Just wow. Evan van der Spuy is a mountain bike racer for Team Jeep South Africa. During a recent race at Albert Falls Damn in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa he got absolutely trucked by a red hartebeest, which is a large antelope. [via cosbysweaters ]
Someone Else Talking finds us harassing a musician long enough that they cough up the fascinating gems that are their current inspirations. Be it music or food or film or folly, we want to know what's getting these people up in the morning. And because we want to know, you get to read about it. Dylan [...]

If you were a fan of the band Tunng , you'll find plenty to love in Diagrams . Recently signed to Full-Time Hobby, Diagrams remind me heavily of that band crossed with a bit of Guiff Rhys and as it turns out they are old friends of Tunng. There's a jovial folk feel to the songs and 'Antelope' in particular skips along at a frolicking pace. How delightful you say! Indeed. Quite. The band's debut 5-track EP is out next week. You can hear it all here and 'Antelope' below: [...]

Diagrams have just signed to Full Time Hobby records in preparation of their 5-track debut EP release on July 11th. "Antelope" features guest vocals by Hannah Peel. Laura Hocking is on the track "Icebreakers" and describes it as "beauteous stuff" via Twitter . There will be a limited edition of 200 screen-printed 123 that can be ordered at Rough Trade or the FTH website. You can listen to "Night All Night" if you 'Like' them on Facebook . Tracklisting: 1. Night All Night 2. Antelope 3. Hill [...]

Philly links up properly on this mixtape, where Mello Music Group 's own Has-Lo and Mr. Sonny James (of the IllVibes Collective ) linking up to show Has' past, present and future in this scene, with originals and remixes from Has (with production from the god as well as DeeJay Tone & Culture I ), showcasing what I've come to know for a bit – Has is a capable auteur, opening up a musical time capsule and allowing you to hear him do his thizzle. Dude looks [...]

Really proud to share this dope mixtape from Has-Lo mixed by Mr. Sonny James of the IllVibes Collective , both Philly representatives. " Antelopes & Lions " is a great introduction to Has-Lo , which highlights his earlier work as well as some exclusive new music that will not be on his upcoming album " In Case I Don't Make It ." Furthermore, " Antelopes & Lions " showcases Has-Lo's production capabilities, as he produced his entire upcoming album, and [...]

Full disclosure: my good friend Greer McGettrick, the one woman show that is The Mallard, plays bass on Mr. Tidyman-Jones album, and 'tis she who passed it along and she who raved about its truly brilliant sound. Confessions aside, Dylan Tidyman-Jones is an amalgam of influences. There's a hint of burbling late-60s pop in the [...]
Andy Warhol remains one of the most important artists of the 20th century for his body of work, his influence on art and commerce, and his cultural philosophies, giving a unique insight into how the idea of celebrity both real and perceived could (and ultimately would) drive American culture. While so ubiquitous today, themes such as [...]
finally. My Top 15 albums of the year two thousand and seven. As I have been whining in my last post about the difficulties, this one was more than hard. I kicked out Feist's The Reminder after having listened to A Trak's Dirty South Dance, but then I rediscovered Fourteen Summers And Fifteen Winters from The Twilight Sad, so A Trak had to leave and I found Night Falls Over Kortedala and on 'n on

Song Antelope ~ " The Flock " http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =XlnRskOciss The video is from Fort Reno in DC. So many great DC bands over the years (like Fugazi, Shudder to Think and many, many others) played free shows there during the summer. Ahh the good old days. ~DC Style~ Video Panda Bear ~ " Comfy in Nautica " [...]

Antelope are from Washington DC and are signed to the legendary DC label, Dischord . Although similar in sound to many bands on the Dischord roster, riff-driven bassy punk, their stripped down, repetitive style is a refreshing break from the norm. There are familiar tones to Ian McKaye's two-piece The Evens, so its no surprise that he recorded their debut album Reflector. Its a impressive collection of bouncy, deep guitars, driving.,squashy bass, technically simplistic drums and impassionate and melodic vocal lines which mixed together gives the music a warm, round, almost funky feel. I've heard complaints that its [...]
