Last night Thomas Gold's team sent us this epic video from Invisible Pictures of Gold playing at NOXX in Belgium a little over a week ago. Although we can't release the song featured in the video, 'Marsch Marsch (2011 Rework)', this clip is extremely well put together and captures everything Thomas is all about: great [...]

A month or two back I received an email from the very talented, Martijn Tinez Vogelaers, who is the art director and designer at Uber and Kosher over in Antwerp, Belgium. It was to my surprise that someone as great as him would approach a blog like mine, and to that I am ever so thankful. Martijn has been curating mixes and art while pushing the underground electronic sound in Antwerp for the past 10 years now. He was generous enough to take sometime out of his busy lifestyle to fabricate the 20th issue of this DECKast [...]
About to release his début EP is Antwerp , a London producer with a taste for eclectic House music and experimental electronic beats. With a sense for warping his looping sounds into melodies Antwerp has created something that is at once dangerously close to being self-indulgent experimentalism but also beautiful, melodic and totally absorbing. The 'EXUINOX' EP's lead track is a four minute electronic soundscape set to a dance beat and nodding it's head more than a little in the direction of Sheffield Bleep House of the early '90's. From there on it the EP gets progressively [...]

Two minutes ago we were taken aback by Selah Sue. Her voice, attitude and her demeanor is not that of the average singer. We are very excited about her and are looking forward to listening to more and more. Here's a synopsis of her story: "Selah Sue was not destined to become an artist. "I grew up in a really little town in Belgium, and none of my family was into music," reveals the twenty‐one year old, with refreshing sincerity. "As a kid, I wanted to be a ballerina. I danced from the age of six to twelve". Even without [...]

I'm not sure how it's already been two years since we started the blog. What began as a casual idea is now a very real endeavor, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. I've been exposed to such phenomenal explorations of electronic music, and met loads of great people along the way. I am truly grateful to anyone who has ever supported us in any way. Thank you. To celebrate, as we did last year , Chief, Crimson and I have all made anniversary mixes of our favorite sounds of summer. (Theirs will [...]
![[Premiere] Antwerp – June // Song Of The Day #286](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3562244_lg.jpg)
There are a lot of European cities in this chap's story. He's a London-based producer, originally from Genoa, releasing music as Antwerp . How thoroughly cosmopolitan. Antwerp's output is unashamedly fun. It's fizzy, rousing stuff that sounds rather like a summer party aboard a narrowboat, or the soundtrack to the happy-but-compromised final sequence of a Wes Anderson film. It's the sort of pastoral pop-house that one imagines will be filling festival tents about this time next year. 'June' is taken from Antwerp's self-titled debut EP, out on Make Mine later this [...]
I have a thing for instrumental music. (By 'instrumental' I mean music without any discernible or intelligible vocal track.) I know that not everyone shares this fondness; some people can't really get into a song unless there's some lyrical message glaring them in the face, and that's ok. But for those of you that do share my love, and like said tracks a bit on the experimental side, I have
While I'm off wondering what to do with my life after watching Beyonce's Glasto performance for the fifteenth time, here's some songs for you to listen to. All of these have been discovered by the oft-late Jamie Milton , within the past seven days. Some are fresh, new, hot off the pan. Others are a little less topical but all the more essential. Featured this week: Still Corners, Bewilderbest, BeachesBeaches, Alias, Colin Cheyne w/ Brown Bread, Antwerp, Zomby and Yung Life ————- [...]

We like weird and wacky, on occasion, and this is wonderfully weird and whimsically wacky. How is it that the Antwerp Gipsy-Ska Orkestra has left a trail of scorched stages, dumbfounded purists and crowds which have been whipped into a frenzy across Europe, from the south to the Balkans? Possibly because these formerly illegal globetrotters pimp their clash of sizzling hot gipsy and fast ska with trashy horns and fat beats? Their second album I Lumia Mo Kher - Serbian Romani for: The World Is My House – is teeming with energy, ambition and an appetite for [...]

ANTWERP 's remix of worriedaboutsatan landed in my inbox early yesterday morning, and it's been on steady repeat ever since. The Hackney-based electronic artist shortened the original version even as he made it all the more sonically saturated. What was once a skittering skeleton of a song is now a syrupy slow-burner with one hell of a plodding bass line. Seems like this qualifies as dreamstep, given the atmospherics and the jumbled vocals. Hear ANTWERP originals as well as remixes for Cymbals and D/R/U/G/S at his bandcamp . worriedaboutsatan [...]

Repetition breeds luminosity in Antwerp's electronic productions. Abstract shapes come alive, building themselves into a towering modern structure. Through plate glass windows you look out on a view of surrounding nature, cement and steel hidden miles down a dirt road, deep in the cover of trees. The unsigned London artist's music brings to mind Four Tet , Gold Panda and Teebs , the gentle shuffle of the organic caught up in the pulse of the synthetic. Two tracks from Antwerp below, grab a few [...]
