Continuing the trend of Devil's Walk remixes being better than the originals, DJ Koze has turned in a stunning rework of 'Black Water'. Fragile and intensely detailed, it sounds natural in a way that so little electronic music achieves.
The seventh annual Lightning in a Bottle music festival runs May 24-28th at Oak Canyon Ranch in Silverado, California. Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob, and Shpongle top this year's lineup, and they'll be joined by Tripper, Apparat, EOTO, Big Gigantic, Lucent Dossier Experience, Star Slinger, and Lee Burridge, among others. Berlin based electronic artist Sascha Ring, better known as Apparat , has announced two special U.S. shows in March including a stop in San Francisco at 103 Harriet on March 9th. These shows will be live sets with full instrumentation highlighting the group's most recent release, last year's The Devil's Walk , which was recorded in Mexico. Icelandic organ quartet Apparat is one of the more interesting musical groups I've come across in a while. As the only organ quartet in the world with five members, their sound is strangely unique and modern, with electronic-inspired songs all hand-played on "their extensive collection of Jurassic analog machinery."
