I first found out about Telefon Tel Aviv 2 years ago when I was digging for some Trip-Hop/IDM. This Electronica duo has always had a special spot in my heart. The melodic synths teamed with glitching bleeps and bloops touches the very core of my musical soul. Last year Jan 22nd 2009, great musician (and half of Telefon Tel Aviv) Charlie Wesley passed away . It came to me as a great shock that he had died so sudden, so young and only 2 days after their album release of Immolate Yourself. There was rumous that Charlie [...]

I have a couple of staple electronic acts to share with you today. Apparat's collaboration with Ellen Allien which during its release was the pinnacle of that epic synth techno trying to be pop which others like Josh Holden , Superpitcher , and Nathan Fake also made a name for themselves. Morgan Geist who you might know from working with Junior Boys and Metro Area puts together dreamy synth melody that I want to hear Erlend Oye sing over. [...]

This Christmas week we are counting down our top 50 albums of 2009 taken from the personal lists of 35 of the State writers and photographers. No doubt, there will be tears, spilled milk, outcry, acceptance and surprises along the way. We hope you find something you overlooked in the course of the year. In our 50 to 41 list we encounter our first Irish album, the return of some elder grunge rockers, a surprising little-heard folk pop album, a brilliant electronic collaboration, a brash Memphis garage rocker and the third album from Sheffield's finest young band. [...]

to high places by narrow roads music. Other Lives - E minor Benoit Pioulard - Palimend Apparat - Arcadia (Boys Noize remix) I Am Not A Gun - Sundays will never be the same (Dntel remix)

Moderat - Out of Sight (mp3) :

gonna keep this one short and sweet. check this one out. the artist is ok ikumi , which is actually karl jorgensen from salt lake city, ut. and the track is "shining path pt. 23 but im not really sure if there is a part 1 and where it can be located, but i know that there is a part 3 on his myspace page . thats pretty much all i can find out about him. this track is a great example of the shiny and happy wing of the electronic music [...]

To play catch up from last week's missed mix, I'm giving you two once again. They're timely with their themes, the first being all German artists and the second being songs about war. In fact, in many ways these two themes are inextricably linked. As everyone celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down, it inevitably brings Berlin's extraordinary history, along with Germany's more generally, back into the spotlight. And Cold War is war after all. I've written about how much I love Berlin here before, and it still remains one of my top cities [...]

"Sad-Step"...?

Today marks the twentieth anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall, which effectively was the Fall of Communism in Germany. The wall was built in 1961 and wasn't pulled down until the 9th of November 1989. With me having a German grandmother i've always had a keen interest in all things German from a young age and have been told many stories about the Berlin wall by my Gran and my mum. Seeing as this isn't a history lesson though i'm not going to waffle on about the Berlin Wall, i'll get to the point, this weeks [...]

YO! Thought I would all share some celebration love with ya'll since today is my birthday . ahhhhh, glorious double dos, kind of starts to get worse from here but I'm ok with that I guess. ANYways, since I have an incredible fascination with MODESELEKTOR / I decided to choose a few of my favorite tracks from their album ' Happy Birthday!' .. Hope you enjoy! Deboutonner (Feat. Siriousmo) - Modeselektor The White [...]

The wait is over! The very much anticipated new release by French-Ukrainian Vitalic (Pascal Arbez) is finally out TODAY on his own label, Citizen Records after 4 long, long years! A 13-track full length and every bit as intricate, immaculate and articulate as ever, Flashmob is the more electro-fused sister of OK Cowboy , the latter already sealed its place as a techno classic upon its debut. Techno is very often described as mechanical, soul-less and a disjointed version of electronic dance music but like his German [...]

I think it’s safe to say on a universal front, that at some stage in our lives we have all at one point changed our minds or position in some shape or form. Whether it’s vinyl to mp3, boxers to briefs, down and out to dynasty, wonk to donk, everyone needs diversity at some point. Hence the posts you read here follow a trend that could only be answerable to our irrational rock star tendencies, where various sonic musical wig outs in search of the “New Sound”, have led us to chartering an array of unexpected beats. And so may [...]

Very smooth. Very melodic. Peaceful. Enjoy the fourth selection of Sunday Smoothies = Edison - Ellen Allien & Apparat Days Are Years - Blue Sky Black Death Fear & Resilience - Pedro Dead Grass - Pedro [let the orchestra take you on a journey] > icknick

Hey all.. So, here at technocolorkids, whether you may believe it or not, we like a little balance in our lives once in a while. That is why we will be introducing the first Sunday of our weekly series called Sunday Smoothies . What we'll be doin is this = hooking you all up with some amazing tunes to sit-down and relax to for a few minutes after the insane weekend bangers we get down on pretty much all week...
