From AqueductIsGoodMusic.com : AQUEDUCT'S DAYTROTTER SESSION On the way home from our Lollapalooza Tour this summer, we were invited to perform live at the Daytrotter studios in Rock Island, IL. So, we stopped by and played four tracks of the new album Or Give Me Death and ended up with a very cool energetic live recording of these tunes. Please stop by over at Daytrotter.com and enjoy our performance as well as hundreds of other great bands, that have played live in the coolest [...]

Denver's The Apples In Stereo will celebrate 15 years together, next year. Still kicking strong, they are on the road again. Over the next few days, you can catch them regionally. Y es folks, it is that time again. Lollapalooza 2007 is right around the corner. The 3 day music festival will once again invade Chicago's Grant Park so mark your calendars for August 3/4/5. Three day tickets are $195, but with that many great bands playing I'd say its a good value. This post begins my MP3 preview of Lollapalooza 2007 artists as I try to compile songs from all of the 120+ artists scheduled to perform. I am pretty excited about the lineup this year and think that it has the [...]

This morning was the Colorado Springs annual street breakfast, which sounds dodgy but means eating good food ("too early for flapjacks?") while sitting on hay bales in the middle of the street downtown. No joke, I actually get up early for this. On this same day last year (always the day before summer officially begins) I posted up my Tanline summer mix , which kept me going all through the hot months. I've been working on this year's mix pretty much since the chills of winter set in (and hung around) as a bit of wishful thinking and longing [...]
Hunter's video blog - the first (and only) entry: I'm not sure Western Civilization has created anything better. Also, on the subject of things so ridiculous that I can't help but love them, a song by a band called Aqueduct (with a major Long Winters vibe) dealing extensively with one of my all-time top five movies: The Princess Bride . As You Wish - Aqueduct I don't draw too many [...]

Aqueduct are playing this Saturday at the Biliken Club with Australia's Youth Group and Columbia, Missouri's The Foundry Field Recordings . Aqueduct's newest album, Or Give Me Death is a logical and impressive step forward from the band's previsou album, I Sold Gold . As anyone who saw them last year (or was it two years ago?) at Cicero's can attest, Aqueduct puts on a fun and engaging live show. The Foundry Field Recordings are a member of the Columbia, [...]

I'm gonna go on a limb and say this will be my favorite night of the four. You've got both the band that had my #1 album of last year in the Annuals, and one of the more fun bands/people to watch play live in Aqueduct. Of course, Monday we've got Page France, Margot & the Nuclear So & So's, Headlights, and Canada, so I could very well be wrong about which is the best night. All I know was even though last night Spinto Band couldn't make it because of illness, which was a big damper on the party, [...]

The road trip mix is a tough mix to master. Many fall victim to the "throw every traveling song I own on a playlist" syndrome and get real sick of driving after listening to Johnny cash tell them everywhere he's ever been. The key is variety, a few travel songs sure, but the rest should be random. After a few indie rock songs and 7 or 8 (out of 500) mile markers, an old soul sing along or a nice jazz track is a welcome break. This is just a building block, feel free to add and subtract because really, [...]

Well as a new month is upon us.....so are some changes (for Real this time) . If you didn`t notice you can now go to www.NeilesLife.com to access my head...and I have now a place to store some tunes, so we shouldn`t have any more problems with the Music around here... Now on an a more important note..I strongly urge you to grab some music by Seattle`s Aqueduct ...A record that I have been strangly enjoying over the last few days...There are a few tracks that I [...]
I apologize for not posting last week's Graboid up as I kept putting it off so far into the week that it was the weekend and I still hadn't started on it. I figured i'd just combine it with this weeks and call it a day. There were a few good releases last week though, including Field Music and Lucinda Williams' latest - which I will not post any tracks from because I don't want bad emails ever again. This week brings us nice set of new releases that includes the highly anticipated [...]

As You Wish y Living [...]

I'm pretty sure Canasta is a game of some kind. A combination of cricket and badminton, I'm guessing. Or croquet and ice dancing. Soccer and curling? Well, whatever... I doubt it's anything that any self-respecting American would ever be caught dead doing. Leave it to the Limeys, Kiwis, and Canucks. There is, however, a very American version of CANASTA . That would be the six-member band from Chicago. Formed in 2002, they are as follows: BRENDAN BYRNES (guitar, vocals), JOHN CUNNINGHAM (keyboard, clarinet, vocals), ELIZABETH LINDAU [...]

This album's been a long time coming considering I saw David Terry, aka Aqueduct, live in Seattle way back in June when he touted the album would be out by fall. Well, that never happened and it looks like February 20th is the new winner for the album's release date. Found on the ever-great Barsuk, David Terry's Aqueduct strive this time around for a slightly more mature sound. He's been known for straight synth-laced pop gems before, and while I loved the old Aqueduct, I wasn't as surprised as I thought upon hearing the new Aqueduct. With [...]

Aqueduct is a one-man band from Seattle. Sole member David Terry handles the vocals, keyboards, guitar & samples. He invited a bunch of guest players for his new album or give me death , a heady conconction of vintage sixties pop and seventies metal. Image a band that is a cross between the Beach Boys and Black Sabbath and you get the idea. If you liked the Pixies , this one's for you. MP3: Aqueduct - As You Wish MP3: Aqueduct - [...]

Seattle, WA Aqueduct is David Terry and he completes the perfect bill for a show at Black Cat here in DC on April 13. He'll be playing in between two of my favorite bands, Youth Group and Junior Boys. I can't wait! His latest is entitled Or Give Me Death and is available through Barsuk . "Keep It Together" Aqueduct on MySpace
My pal Jeff Weiss (who runs the finely-wrought and utterly hilarious Passion Of The Weiss blog) also moonlights with the good folks at Stylus Magazine, and you should read his latest opus for them: Back To The Future vs. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure . It's just as awesome as it sounds. Weiss pits two of the most excellent '80s films against each other on several battles: Better Protagonist, Better Villain, Better Historical Time-Travel Interaction, Better Time-Traveling Helper, Better Time-Traveling Vehicle, Better Token [...]
A song with a verse detailing what it means to fight "To the pain?" Inconceivable! Well it turns out, that word, "Inconceivable," does not mean what you think it means. There is such a song, and it's called "As You Wish," by Seattle songwriter David Terry (aka Aqueduct). It's as awe inspiring as the Cliffs of Insanity, as sweet as Princess Buttercup, and as lovable as the gentle giant Fezzik, played by Andre The Giant. Aqueduct - As You Wish.mp3 Bonus: Aqueduct - Living a Lie.mp3 [...]
Friday Random Five (#21) The Random Five makes (yet) another random appearance today with an emphasis on upcoming releases-- not really a problem this time of year. But enough chit-chat. 1- Jill Sobule's written a new song about global warming that doesn't suck despite that description. The timing was about right, too, since up until the last couple of days (which have cruelly reminded many of
