For a band, advertised as a "supergroup" of scottish indie music, there's a massive danger of dissapointment involved. Might the label itself be appropriate or not, as a band collecting members from FRIGHTENED RABBIT, ADMIRAL FALLOW and ARAB STRAP, there's a huge amount of expectations for every name that's dropped. Fortunately, THE MOTH & THE MIRROR The post The Moth & The Mirror - Honestly, This World appeared first on Nothing But Hope And Passion - NBHAP - Music Magazine & more .

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars I've spent the better part of the last two weeks playing Past Perfect over and over again; it's an album that travels well regardless of where you go, be it your bedroom, your car, the gym, home office, whatever. While there are definitely bright spots, the overall execution from Paperfangs demonstrates a well-rounded effort that any music aficionado can sink their teeth into. My first few runs through the record, I definitely gravitated towards the 1-2 [...]
Oh thank goodness, that's this thing finished for another year. Now I can get back to the important work of hardly ever posting anything on the blog. For the final door of the calendar I've picked out one of my favourite Christmas songs, with a few different people putting their own spin on it. The song is Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). Written by Ellie Greenwich, Jeff Barry and Phil Spector for the latter's A Christmas Gift To You album, still the best Christmas album made if you ask me, singing duties fell to Darlene [...]

Sometimes you stumble upon something that musically intrigues you, and while you might not give it much attention at first, it eventually finds its way into your brain. When I first heard this track from Jesus H. Foxx , I found the construction quite fascinating, but I moved on for the time being. But, now that the band has released Endless Knocking , their new album, I've got to support the group. They're a Scottish act, and the vocals have a deep resonance that reminds me of a gone-but-not-forgotten [...]

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars Occasionally you encounter a band and a record that fits perfectly into who you are or where you are; these are the sorts of albums that you'll always find endearing, no matter who tells you otherwise. Home by The Bankees , just might be that album, reaching beyond my expectations and finding its way straight into the core of my being. Admittedly, I'm not in the same place as the lyrics on "Single Life" by any [...]

This sink measures 33 by 27 by 7 inches. The kitchen sink. I could do this for another month and still barely scratch the surface of stuff I want to post. I won't though. Instead I'm going to throw a big ole pile of songs at you. All of this is stuff I love, and most of it is stuff I'd never get a chance to blog about normally. Just press play. AC Acoustics - I Messiah, Am Jailer [...]

former member of Arab Strap and noted humorist releases his first 'serious' solo album

Hooray For Earth haven't been around for very long, but their impact on synth pop has been unmistakeable. Where their MOMO EP pushed boundaries, their True Loves LP shattered expectations in every way and made for one of the best records of 2011. While sounding larger than life, this New York-based project is built around the home recordings of singer and multi-instrumentalist, Noel Heroux. I recently ran into Heroux while browsing the ' Exciting ' category on Netflix... Violent Success: When [...]

May the 4th. Time to get your nerd on. Today is international celebrate Star Wars day. I think I've seen 4-5-6 at least ten times each. It captured my imagination as a kid and who didn't pretend they had a light saber at some point. Arab Strap is a Scottish indie act perhaps best known for being the subject of the Belle and Sebastian song Boy With the Arab Strap . They did release a few good albums as well. Anyway, it's clear that either Aidan Moffat or Malcolm Middleton were big [...]

Sometime [circa 2006], somewhere [likely Falkirk] a solitary tear will most probably have trickled down bristled whisker to the sound of Philophobia , the news of Arab Strap's untimely demise bungling about within churning stomach like jittering die sheltered from the perils of this world by the plastic rotunda of a Pop-O-Matic. It's not as though the band's constituents Malcolm Middleton and Aidan Moffat have receded into periods of protracted mourning nor lengthy spells of hibernation since; it's just that they're indubitably at their best when strapped into the same voyage, sat side by side in solidarity. Thus for [...]

Track Listing 1. H.D.B.A. Theme 2. The Missing Plutonium 3. 1985 Download

I've long been a fan of Malcolm Middleton , as the pages of this web site can attest, so when I heard the former Arab Strap member was starting a new project I was rather excited. His new effort will be under the name Human Don't Be Angry , and from what I've heard from the affair up to this point it is going to be a mostly instrumental affair. It's actually a pretty nice listen once it gets underway, similar to what other Scottish post-rockers have done. [...]
Face it, we all like a good lyrical smackdown, and the art of the kiss-off line (or, indeed, entire kiss-off song) is one of the most time-honored and enduring in music. Good kiss-offs can take many forms — they can be subtle and sarcastic, or blunt and brutal, or just flat-out hilarious. Either way, there have been many, many good ones committed to tape over the years, and we've always had an ear for a biting turn of phrase — so we're counting down 30 of the best after the jump. As ever, we're open to suggestions, so let us [...]
There are love songs, of course. There are break-up songs. And then there are songs about relationships that don't fit into either of those categories - the ones about love affairs that aren't ending, even when something has gone seriously, perhaps irreparably wrong. Romantic crisis anthems, if you will. The newest of Montreal album, Paralytic Stalks , which is out this week, is all about a relationship in peril; the band's mastermind, Kevin Barnes, recently told Spin , "The general theme of the whole record is trying to keep myself together when I'm faced with all this madness, [...]

Korku geliyor insana. Kalabalıkların verdiği bir duygu bu. Dolaşıyorsun sokakta, yüzler geçiyor birbiri ardına. Tek bir tanıdık yok, bildik yok, şöyle sana bir şeyler hatırlatan bir bakış, bir gülüş yok. Hep yabancı, herkes birbirine yabancı. Nerdeyse herkes birbirine kayıtsız, acımasız, neredeyse düşman. Yeni bir yılın, ölü doğmuş bir senenin mesihliğine soyunmaması dileğiyle... [...]
