[TL; DR: DOWNLOAD HERE ] We suppose to begin at the beginning would be to report that in the summer of 1993 we were driving with the windows down one afternoon in Ardmore, PA, the radio was dialed to Princeton's WPRB, and then we first heard "Claire Hates Me" by Lilys . The tune is a rush of dense guitar and gently modulating melody with an impassioned vocal, so nice it was released twice: first as one side of a split 7" as part of Simple [...]

Shoegaze is a loaded label, term, genre. And a list of contemporary shoegaze acts must be all about emulating the good ole' days - right!? Well, hopefully this list proves otherwise. Photo by Stacy Schwartz When the Scottish boys of Frightened Rabbit get on a bus and travel the world the result is hypeworthy, hilarious, and heartwarming. The set took off with “Modern Leper,” from the highly-praised 2008 release Midnight Organ Fight . Lead man and beard connoisseur Scott Hutchison drove the opening with his plaid-bearing dance moves and energetic guitar riffs. It was a powerful start; heavy percussion and slick background vocals. Hutchison quickly switched over to the acoustic to introduce the first notes of “Old [...]

You can take a listen to and download it below. And the guys and gal are currently on tour with Frightened Rabbits. Yes, a good day indeed.
