Arcade Fire's "Sprawl II" already boasted a disco-ey vibe, but Belgian group Soulwax doubled-down on it with an especially vibrant remix. The result sounds like the infectious lovechild of Blondie and Devo. Check it out below. - Fr. Jones

The past few days were so productive for Soulwax. THE Soulwax. They have remixed Arcade Fire's song, "Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)", and it sounds BRILLIANT. Last night Zane Lowe premiered the Soulwax remix of 'Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)' by Arcade Fire , and within minutes it was on Youtube. God bless you people of the internet. This is brilliant.

I remember the first time I heard Soulwax's remix of The Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What Yo Want." It was during a particularly fuzzy DJ set at SXSW 2008, and I distinctly remember the palpable excited energy in the room when people realized just who's voice it was that these intensifying synth planes and percolating arpeggios were twisting and swirling around. Win, Will, Régine, and Marika stuck around in Austin for a post-SXSW lecture at the University of Texas on Monday night. According to RollingStone.com , the Arcade Fire members used the appearance to discuss Haiti's current socio-economic crisis and to urge students to get involved with relief efforts. They also performed acoustic versions of two songs, "Haiti" and "Wake Up", as ArcadeFireTube points out. Watch footage of the performance below.

As recently played on the radio by Zane " Game Changer " Lowe on Radio 1. He neglects to say anything about when it's released or anything, but we do learn what Zane thinks about this remix and disco bpm. It's a really good remix, seriously. Excited. There is nothing more degrading for an indie band than 'being pulled on stage' to do some sort of honky collab performance with a band that is 'legendary' and 'more famous' than you. SXSW has come and gone again. It's speculated over 200,000 people littered the streets of Austin for the music lover's paradise, but I remember by Saturday morning, my liver had all but gone out on me and my feet begged me to not leave the hotel. After over two hours of Bruce and his boys at SXSW, the set closed with this: a cover of Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land" with special guests Arcade Fire, Tom Morello, the Low Anthem, and others. It looks like a heartwarming performance that makes you want to drink a cheap beer, pump a fist, hug somebody, then go buy some land and fix up a broken truck.
