Archer Black is the sound of all hell breaking loose — references to wars, bombs, triggers, guns, bayonets and other manner of ordnance all surface amid the orchestral rock on the Los Angeles band's debut album "Forgiveness Is a Weapon" (due Jan. 3). Frontman Dustin Morgan, the longtime bassist in L.A.'s moody shoegazers the Autumns , insists, though, the album is more about relationships, and while pop mythology does hold that love is a battlefield, it's impossible not to visualize carnage on Archer Black's cinematic excursions. Morgan, who has played with jazz notables Eldad Tarmu and Benny Golbinand [...]

"I think the only person on the planet who's a bigger fan of Burt Reynolds than me is Sterling Archer," Archer creator Adam Reed told EW . "Archer constantly tries to imitate Burt and always raves about Burt's movies and all-around awesomeness. So to have Burt recording voice-overs for the show was just amazing." This is incredible. Here is Burt and Archer together, looking like a couple of pimps. Can't wait for this episode to air.
With a major-label distribution deal right out of the chute, Candy Butchers seemed destined to follow in the footsteps of other smart, song-focused, melody-driven, '90s outfits like Ben Folds Five and Fountains Of Wayne before the proverbial window of opportunity slammed shut circa 1997. Since then, seemingly unflappable leader Mike Viola has kept plugging away, [...]

Austin Archer Venture to Breathe [Get Up Records, 2011] 3.5 out of 5 stars Download This Album: iTunes l Amazon MP3 Up-and-coming local artist Austin Archer just released his seven-song sophomore effort, Venture to Breath . On the release he has transformed his previously all acoustic sound into a fully produced, complete band endeavor by enlisting the help of several of Atlanta's best musicians to create a pristinely presented [...]

I'm not yet sold on Austin Archer . It's not a question of talent — all six songs on his upcoming EP, Venture to Breathe , are solid, well-contructed rock songs — but I can't help feel that much of it sounds fabricated and formulaic. Still, his music holds promise. Something about first single "All In" (quite possibly it's those melodic stabs of sharp guitars that are interspersed throughout the song) reminds me of Twothirthyeight and there's a genuine earnestness here that is neither cloying or mawkish. In the end, it's enough to earn a watchful [...]
Archer Spade is an unlikely duo compromised of Philly music veterans, world-reknowned klezmer trombonists Daniel Blacksberg and demon shredder Nick Millevoi. The combination has previously performed in seemingly every possible genre ranging from rock to jazz to chamber-pop and traditional Jewish music, as well as in Deli fave the Hassidic punk band Electric Simcha. They're latest project creates a unique blend of their previous musical endeavors as they push the boundaries of their expansive musical knowledge and abilities. Also on the bill are Swedish born multi-instrumentalist Helena Espvall (Espers) and Brooklyn experimental/improv group, Mary Halvorson/Weasel Walter/Peter Evans [...]
Emerging from their desolate and isolated cabin, The Deer Tracks share their new release The Archer Trilogy Pt. 2 , the second instalment of their 3 part musical triptych, a full length album rather than the preceding EP. Promising to "take you any and everywhere you allow your mind, body and soul to go," The Deer Tracks beautiful waves of ethereal sounds embody visions of their cold, dark and frosty hometown of Gävle, Sweden. The duo continue to produce successful combinations of delicate folk melodies alongside glitchy, pulsing electronic rhythms which create visions of vast icy soundscapes [...]
Eighteen venues, four days, and a whole earful of great of music make up this year's MusicFestNW.

The Deer Tracks - The Archer Part Two Sweden have presented the UK with an array of talented musicians throughout the years from ABBA, Robyn, The Hives and The Cardigans to Lykke Li, Fever Ray, Jose Gonzales and The Tallest Man on Earth (we'll forget about Basshunter, Eric Prydz, Ace of Base, Rednex and Roxette...). And here's another pair to add to the list. David Lehnberg and Elin Lindfors are the Swedish boy girl pop duo The Deer Tracks and have surprisingly been churning out catchy synth pop [...]

It's summer, and whether or not the sun is shining it's not really weather to be listening to icily cool electropop that chills you to the bone. Yet it's this time of year that Swedish boy-girl duo The Deer Tracks have chosen to release part two of their musical trilogy, handily titled The Archer Trilogy Pt 2 . However, if that electropop packs in anthemic chorus upon anthemic chorus then it's perfect music for summer – and the duo of David Lehnberg and Elin Lindfors have produced a well-timed record of very nearly just that. [...]

Bright Archer's Hidden Systems is now on Bear Island Records and American Typewriter Records is releasing it on vinyl this fall in Europe. The album, crafted by Portland's Johanna Kunin along with a host of other musicians, centers on Kunin's lush voice and piano; a chorus of orchestral instruments, vibraphone and playful keyboard sounds allow [...]

Portland's Johanna Kunin's vocals are strong and firm. In "Hidden Systems" Johanna, along with various other musicians under the moniker Bright Archer, tells the story of nature, history, and love as a lullaby of powerful and dynamic proportions. The song is from the Bright Archer's recent release Hidden Systems. With Hidden Systems out now, Bright Archer will be touring the West Coast this August, performing at Los Angeles' Bardot on Monday, August 22nd. MP3 of "Hidden System" 08.19.11 - Seattle, WA @ [...]

The Archer Trilogy Pt. 2 is ethereal and as fluffy as a white cloud traveling slowly across a blue sky, and is enjoyable strictly on that level. The second part of any proposed trilogy is a bit of a tough nut to crack. If you look at a film like The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, it's hard to really get a handle on it critically as it is the middle chapter -- something without a bonafide start or an ending. Middle parts have a tough time standing on their own as an entity in and [...]
