During Fleet Foxes' headlining set on Saturday night, I looked up from the crowd to the jumbo-tron on the left and noticed the boom camera was high in the air shooting the audience. It was an endless sea of faces made orange by the stage's flood light and a surprisingly powerful street-light that hung over the main stage. Eighteen thousand people watching Fleet Foxes - if you would have told me three years ago that this Seattle collective would be playing for 18,000 people I would have pushed you down a hill. It's a testament to the spirit [...]

Nós já divulgamos aqui o line-up do Fourfest que contará com bandas fortes da cena indie atual: as americanas The Pains of Being Pure at Heart e Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti , além da brasileira Some Community .

</embed> In this video footage of a live performance of the horrorcore band CORPSE CIRCUS, we hear the Ariel Pink 's Haunted Graffiti song "Fright Night" being utilized as a sample. The band sings along with Ariel's pop vibes, and eventually departs 2 touch on horrorcore themes like killing ppl, having sex with dead bodies, and other dark, violent images. This begs the question(s)... Has Ariel Pink 'gone horrorcore'? Did he license this song in order 2 reach juggalo audiences? Is Ariel 'getting dark'? Can CORPSE CIRCUS break [...]

All Photographs by Jan Kucic-Riker Primavera Sound is an overwhelming and vastly stimulating music pilgrimage made each year to Barcelona, Spain. Over two hundred bands across eleven stages and timetables that schedule sets well past five in the morning make the musical mecca a monstrous undertaking. Fortunately, 140,000 music lovers joined me over the course of the three main days and two satellite events to dance, sing, and even swim at the Parc del Fòrum and Poble Espanyol. The eclectic line-up saw everything from unabashed hip-hop to captivating folk ballads and electronic DJ sets. Though the scheduling [...]

26-28 May, 2011 Part 2 of our 3 part review. You can read Part 1 here . Don't miss the final part tomorrow. Friday Pulp The best intentions go awry at Primavera , and you end up missing bands you want to see because it's too damn early to stop sitting down and drinking cheap drinks outside the festival. Fiery Furnaces fall by the wayside because of this ruthless reality, and [...]
The 4th Annual Roots Picnic went down in Philadelphia on Saturday. Grammy winner Esperanza Spalding performed, as well as Little Dragon, Ariel Pink, Dismemberment Plan, Man Man, and Beanie Sigel. Due to scheduling problems, Man Man ended up playing while the Roots and Nas were on, so, sadly, no photos of their hometown set. But check out photos of the other acts and headliner the Roots with Nas in the gallery above.

Photo via p4ks Ariel Pink is known for his crazy on-stage antics and his lofi pop vibe vibes. However, lately he was getting TONS OF BLOG PRESS 4 having meltdowns on stage. First at Coachelly [ link ], then an anti-Mexi meltdown in Mexico [ link ]. Anyways, he played Primavera Fest, which is both a festival AND in a Latin-wave place (Spain), so tons of insiders were predicting that this would lead to the #1 meltdown of all time. However, there were no reports of a [...]

Hola from Spain! I was lucky enough to make the trip over here to Barcelona for Primavera Sound , a music festival featuring some of my absolute favorite bands in the entire world. I've put together an official guide to help those who are also in attendance navigate through the madness. I haven't mentioned every band playing, only those I am most excited for. In addition, I've selected a stage each day that you shouldn't miss! For those not here with me, festival line-ups are some of the best ways to discover new bands, so check out [...]

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - Can't Hear My Eyes (Flubba Remix) Who is Flubba you might ask? Well his real name is Aaron Lifton, and he is an up and coming, 18-year-old producer from New York. But most of you will learn to recognize him by the funny drawing above, Flubba. Some sort of alter-ego, Flubba is a lemonade colored blob who seems to love chillin' to the finest nu-disco tracks while wearing his signature hat and sunglasses. Sounding like more of a characterization of myself, Flubba seems to embody the mood that Lifton is [...]

13-15 May, 2011 We live in hard times, friends. Not hard like it was back in the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s obviously, or even the early 80s of course but you know, bread is pricey these days, so pretty damn hard. The enforced economic cutbacks are far reaching and have inevitably spread to everyone's favourite indie-cred festival, ATP . Now down to just one May festival from the previous years' 2, one will become none in 2012 due to a big dip in ticket sales caused by all manner of possible reasons; a perceived lack of [...]

Famed as much for his absence and absenteeism than his divine presence, Ariel Marcus Rosenberg, tormented ringleader of Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti epitomises idiosyncrasy, and latest LP Before Today has proven something of a cult sensation, its warbling R'n'B genre bending utterly astounding on cellulose acetate. Its translation into equally sensational live show however is often marred by megalomania and tantrum, and as Ariel meekly, moonily ambles about onboard Bristol's Thekla, he's every bit the volatile egomaniac every lauded musician believes to be. Thankfully he's got a veritable arsenal of freakish Motown fusion pop nuggets [...]

In the mood for getting funky this Friday? Well I have just the tune to help you along. The Los Angeles born Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffitti have collaborated with DJ Dam Funk to produce a psychedelic remix of Fright Night (Nevermore) , from their Before Today album. The eccentric genius of both Ariel Pink and Dam Funk meet here with very pleasing results. After all, who doesn't enjoy a bit of sexy-synth music? Ariel Pinks Haunted Graffiti - [...]
Wow, has it really been another two weeks already? Time seems to be flying by, which normally I'm all about in the cold winter months, but now that the temperatures are consistently above ridiculous, I'd like things to slow down a bit, though I don't see that happening any time soon. As we move into summer, the night becomes much more exciting. Mostly because it's not excruciating to stand outside, but also because there's nothing quite like driving with the windows down on a warm summer night. And that, my friends, is my tie in to [...]

Just came across another great music blog out there called I am Fuel, You are Friends . She is a great writer, has dyno-mite taste in music, and uncontrollably throws her readers goodie after goodie. One recent post in particular got my attention when I scrolled down the tracklist and saw a bunch of my favourites. Here is the link to the Springtime Playlist as well as the mp32s below for your listening/downloading pleasure. Free mp3: David Wax Museum - Born With a Broken Heart [...]
