"Your disco needs you," Kylie Minogue sang 12 years ago. Lately, mine have been killing me -- not so softly, with one terrible song after another. When did dance music become not only unlistenable outside of the club but virtually undanceable inside of it, too? Maybe I'm just getting old, and the disco is simply no longer my playground, but I'd like to think I can still cut a rug when the time and the groove call for it. (Another sign of my impending old age: I use phrases like "cut a rug"!) Every [...]

In a world where all of yesterday's musical heritage is available at the touch of a button, and instant fame through a choice sample, where do we draw the line? When does compliment become plagiarism and what should we do to combat this? It's of no surprise to anyone that sampling and the art of skillfully using another musician's material is widely popular, it's simply something which has existed since the dawn of the genre. The greatest and most revered of dance music legends have healthily borrowed from the depths of musical time so why shouldn't we? This article aims [...]

Accompanied by an 18 year musical history that spans remixing, production and DJing to a level of prism and multiplexed shining glow, Armand van Helden - on the momentous house music label Strictly Rhythm ; and dually backed up by Kaiserslautern's Zedd , give to you one hell of a massively polite & cadenced music build. With a frightfully & pleasant trancey outlay towards the end, this one is strictly for the rhythm-bass-chunky!

I know this is supposed to be a classic. But my aversion to Armand's curious facial hair and arrogance is total and stops me hearing anything. Zedd has a go at remixing it into a darker place. Listen only. The remix is electro house, which sells it kind of short. It's a really good remix that makes it sound utterly contemporary. The beats stomp but with the whoops giving it a slightly camp feel. The synths head towards rave and some sophisticated drops. A success. And if it annoysthose that like the original, good. [...]

German electro/house producer and DJ Zedd aka Anton Zaslavski is one of the more innovative producers on the scene today. His last hit, Breakin' a Sweat by Skrillex (Zedd Remix) dropped like an atomic bomb on the electronic scene, putting a fresh and exciting twist on the electro genre. His latest remix of Witch Doktor by Armand Van Helden, while not quite living up to the mammoth hit that was Breakin' a Sweat, reflects Zedd's unique style, and the innovation that makes him stand out in today's ever-larger EDM scene. MP3: Armand Van [...]

Some tunes that I've been feeling lately. Enjoy. 1) Trio (Original Mix) - Arty, Matisse, Sadko Seems like everyone and their mother is raving about this cut this week so how could I not post it? 2) Ultimate (Original Mix) - Probe The Plasmapool label stamp has become synonymous with quality Electro-house releases, catapulting Mord Fustang into global relevance. Their newest conquest, Probe, seems to be on the same trajectory with this massive release. 3) Last [...]

After reworking his last remix, 'Breaking A Sweat,' Zedd brings the heat with another remix of the classic darkside house music track, 'Witch Doktor' by Armand Van Helden . Swapping the original tribal influenced sounds, Zedd revamps 'Witch Doktor' with a stomping electro-house groove. He guarantees to 'have your fillings buzzing between the sirens and ominous chant.' The remix will be released on Strictly Rhythm on March 6th, 2012. Stay tuned. Armand Van Helden - Witch Doktor (Zedd Remix)

On November 28th, throngs of neon-clad EDM fans descended on Lot 8 at RFK Stadium for eight straight hours of heavy hitting, unapologetic bass. Bass so loud that nearby neighborhoods filed formal complaints with the police. While many of last summers festivals were defined by their scope and eclectic lineups, Fall Massive threw caution to the wind and booked a lineup that was heavily skewed towards the heavy electro and dubstep crowd. Make no mistake, this was a rave, plain and simple. Glowing dancers performed on stage while lights bounced and reflected off the walls and ceilings of [...]

duck sauce - big bad wolf [it's NASTY and not suitable for work (thank you director keith schofield)! question... is this porn when it's the faces making all the commotion?] while we're at it, check out these sick remixes that just came out!: duck sauce - big bad wolf ( toddla t remix) [dub meets dubstep! hot!] duck sauce - big bad wolf ( gesaffelstein remix) [raved up and damn it sounds so good!] [...]
New versions of A-Trak + Armand Van Helden's monster, "Big Bad Wolf", are coming courtesy of Dada Life & Toddla T on Beatport. In the meantime, go "like" Duck Sauce on Facebook & grab a... **Summary** Go to website for downloads, videos & more.

As anyone who has made a 5+ flight to anywhere knows, closed cabin induced claustrophobia can bring on ADD, so to pass the time your idle hands need to find something to keep them busy. Scott of The Soundmen found one hell of a way to pass the time, creating a live DJ set while coasting above the US at a mile up. If transcontinental flight was still as posh as it was in the 602s, Scott would have been playing this in the lounge for everyone to enjoy, rather than his own private show in the sky. [...]
Contender for video of the year courtesy of Duck Sauce. This clip is disturbingly great, featuring Armand Van Helden and A-Trak acting like total dickheads! Really great that they had the balls to get involved in something like this. Directed by Keith Schofield.
Armand and A-Trak deliver a twisted but clever visual for their latest Duck Sauce banger.

I. am. speechless. This video is hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing throughout the piece. I won't even ruin it by describing it, just know that Armand and A-Trak do appear in the video...
