I Guess I'm Floating is hands down one of my favorite blogs. I don't always love everything they put up, but they've led me to some of my absolute favorite bands of the past two years. They're completely unpretentious, but still have killer taste. If for some crazy reason you're reading this blog and are unfamiliar with theirs, check it out here . This is already sold out, and it's no wonder with the line up: Beach Fossils, A Place To Bury Strangers, Guards...it's going to be a really fun night. I guarantee the vibe will be [...]

Beach Fossils are set to release their What a Pleasure EP on February 22nd via the Captured Tracks label. The band is crafting tunes that seem to be time-traveling in from a college radio station playing "modern rock" sometime in 1987. Bring on the jangle. Listen. Downloadable: Calyer (mp3) The EP looks like this: Upcoming NYC Show: January 29 @ Glasslands ( IGIF 5 Years of Awesome Party ) w/ A Place to Bury Strangers , Caveman [...]
Despite being the quickest month of the year, Pianos NYC has packed its February schedule with two amazing month-long residencies. You can see a show with ARMS every single Wednesday, accompanied by a multitude of other great acts and a DJ set unique to each night. You could also hit up the Lower East Side venue any Thursday during the month to see Yellow Ostrich, each of their four evenings hosted by a different blog and focusing on different aspects of their music. Hell, at $8 a pop and each residency set for [...]

Stream 'Corporeal' here. ARMS recently shared a Heart Playlist. Broadcast's Trish Keenan passed away today. MP3: ARMS - Heat & Hot Water (Passion Pit Mix)
It's a sad day for all Broadcast fans as Trish Keenan has passed away. ARMS has decided to pay homage to the wonderful band by covering my personal favorite Broadcast track "Corporeal". Go HERE to listen.

The rather wonderful Band of Horses have announced that Dilly will be the next single to be released from last year's Infinite Arms album. The video for Dilly was inspired by biker films of the 1970s and it sure looks like it must have been a lot of fun to make. If you don't believe me then check it out for yourself here. The single itself will come backed with an exclusive cover of Cee-Lo Green's Georgia Furthermore, the [...]

Continuing our best of 2010 coverage we now look at some of the awesome songs recorded by our pals at Daytrotter this year. And I will just go and say it... Daytrotter is quite possibly my favorite places to find music on the internet. If you are not clicking over there at least one a week, you are really missing out. Yes, you have to register and use their java-based downloader thingy, but it is so worth it. These are our favorite Daytrottin' tracks of 2010 . Listen. Downloadables: [...]
Best Songs / Best Albums / Best EP/73 While I'm completely aware that we filmed all of our videos in 2010, it seemed appropriate to share some of our favorites with you. The truth of the matter is that we love each and every video we shoot. We love all these artists, and love the time we spend with them brewing ideas, finding shooting locations, filming, and sometimes eating delicious food. This is a list of some of our favorites, but it's [...]

Oh, I forgive you lady with 45 items in the 20 items or less lane. Maybe it's the eggnog talking, but I think I am finally in the holiday spirit. Apparently, a lot of indie artists are too. ARMS dropped by the Big Ugly Yellow Couch and delivered an excellent, impromptu rendition of All I Want For Christmas Is You . Watch: The Big Ugly Yellow Couch is featuring Christmas tunes on the couch all week. As always, [...]

In the five years or so I've been doing this, I can't remember a better year for songs. I actually spent most of Saturday ordering a top 100, went a little crazy and decided nobody needed me to rank seven hours of tracks. So here's a top 50. Every single one of these tracks is incredible, and yes, even Ke$ha. For the record, I allowed two songs per band in a few special cases because not including both Sally Seltmann jams would be a lie (though I did cut two Best Coast songs). Also, No. 51 is Lady Gaga ("Telephone") [...]

BEST OF 2010 : The album isn't dead. But, like the dinosaurs, it may not outlast its smaller, warm-blooded colleagues. In 2010, the EP became something more than a tour curio or a year-end reminder of a band's existence. For bands unable or unwilling to make the artistic and financial investment of a full-length release, the EP became the perfect format: long enough to showcase what a band could do without being too short to pass off as a one-MP3 wonder and just right for self-releasing and giving away free, as so many groups chose to do this year. For [...]

So I put together a little list, and I'm exhausted. Why did I do this to myself? I get caught up in these lists and a ton of artists come to mind, each of them so deserving of their own place immortalized in the archives of friends' but I could only give them a few lines each. Instead of putting together a year-end 'best of' list, not necessarily albums, not necessarily current artists- simply artists that I discovered this year, in 2010. These artists made an impact on me in some way, whether it was just one of [...]

After a ton of thought and internal bickering, we're finally releasing our year end lists. It took a good amount of time, and a lot of thought to figure all of this out, but I'm seriously happy with the lists we've put together. 2010 has been called a flop of a year for music, but when it comes to the EP/73 category, I really don't agree. The follow are 15 of our favorite EPs and 73 releases of the year. Keep in mind, this is just our opinion . Don't take it personal that your favorite artist isn't [...]
