I had a dream last night that I was watching Northern Exposure in a bar in Boston. Should I be worried? In YouTube clips, a political edge by Howard Kurtz of the Washington Post It starts off like a typical negative ad, with swelling music and pictures of John McCain: "Flip-Flopper? Yes. Waffler? Yes." But then the Internet spot takes a strange turn: "Eh, whatever. He should still be president," the graphics say. "John McCain 2008. [...]
Black Fiction, who recently performed at the 2006 Noise Pop festival, have dropped swag on this corner. Drop me a comment if you want a free CD, no strings attached, no rules, no contest to enter. Just leave me a comment with your e-mail and/or mailing address. U.S. only please. As for the band, their press release calls them a “mid-fi tsunami,†which I guess is as good a name for what they do as anything I could come up with. Seems a little oxymoronic though, dunnit? [...]
Happy Monday everyone. The World Cup sadly ended yesterday. For the finale, I met friends at Zum Schnieder and drank two of their liter beers. Usually I couldn't afford such an extravagance, but someone there messed up the tivo and pressed paused earlier in the afternoon. Instead of just pressing play, they decided to change the channel to ABC and we all missed the Zidane penalty kick. To make up for it, there was free beer on the house for everyone who had been there since the beginning. All was forgotten when I started to eye the bottom [...]
Following last year's production and subsequent period of "blowin' up," Art Brut have generally become an IT band. But, for the most part, with good reason. Here's a live track with a funny Social Distortion anecdote within the intro, enjoy: Art Brut "Moving To L.A. (live)"
Art Brut - "Moving to LA" Art Brut burst onto the scene last year, garnering all sorts of praise, accolades, and spots on year end lists for their debut album Bang Bang Rock & Roll . If you have not yet heard this album it may be because it just came out in the US like a month ago, but that doesn't make the fact that you haven't heard it right. You should go out and buy it as soon as you're done reading my blog for the day. It's an [...]

Brian will be writing the review of last night's show, and I am sifting through the 150 pictures I took at the show. In a word, fanfuckingtastic. Here are some mp3s and videos of the opening acts who were both good in their own ways. The Robocop Kraus just came out and rocked. Every song had a hook you could sink your teeth into, and lead singer Thomas Lang was an arresting presence. mp3s from R5 Productions , who put on a great show. Props to Sean Agnew. All The Good [...]
