What's up papercranes? It's me again, Chris from dailybeatz with another edition of everyone's favorite musical discovery game. Yes, you guessed it, we're talkin' bout some Hypem Hunting. In case you forgot from last time, this is how the game works. Go to hypem.com, pick a random word, search it in the search box, and then listen to a bunch of songs you've never heard until you find a bunch that you like. This week, the word was "rush", and here's what we've discovered. Let's travel back in time. The [...]
Another Wednesday, another edition of everyone' favorite music aggregator discovery game. In case you missed the first 7 editions, (almost) every week, we pick a random word (or have it picked for us), search for that word on The Hype Machine and then post some of our favorite tunes that we found. This week's word was randomly chosen by our friend tkop , and the word he chose was "rush", thanks to some CNN headlines. So let's see what we found. Let's travel back in time. i have no idea how these guys came up with the idea for this sound... but i'm thankful they did. art rush - first (zshare) art rush - first (mediafire)

OK so I have Art Rush as a friend on my facebook and I think his full name is actually Art Rush. Fucking awesome no? He's a young Sydney guy with a ukulele and a mini keyboard and is just amazing. Making lo-fi, chilled out, raw, post-Beck style shit from his bedroom. My faves: Art Rush - The Reasons I've Decided To Die Art Rush - First Art Rush - Hi Boy/Cheated/Sorry Man All his albums [...]

'The Reasons...' is a surprisingly funky slice of stream-of-consciousness lo-fi R n' B... except that usually in R n' B, panting "I need some company" means "I want to [...]

Man this set at the vice party over the weekend was without a doubt one of the better moments of life; quickly getting the crowd hooked with his one man/2 keyboard, lo fi stage show. Art Rush kicked it to the man with his d.i.y. casio composer style effectively mashing elements of justin hazlewood (aka the bedroom philosopher) and muscles. The definate highlight of the set were the amended lyrics to match a certain "influential" (to quote Art) lead singer hi jacking the stage demanding to play drums. If you dig [...]
