ASC's extensive back catalogue is filled to the brim with top quality electronica, drum n bass and lovely ambient meanderings. He continues to add to it at a rapid pace however and the latest to appear is this chunk of crunchy 170 BPM funk. Crystal clear percussion rattles around a body of raw sub bass and spacey atmospherics to fill up this brilliant 123 that opens ASC's account nicely for 2012. I recently went back and listened to this LP for the first time in years. I wrote it between 2002 and 2006, and I think some of it still holds up now. Some of it I don't care for too much, but overall as an LP, it's pretty strong. Anyway, this was released on my now defunct Covert Operations label back in 2006. I have to say I thought Paul missed a "trick" last week as he gorged himself on doughnuts. What with it being Halloween and all. We, thankfully still have some teeth wreckers left in the shape of toffee apples, guaranteed to remove those loose fillings. Jacques Greene pops up this week with a freebie called "Motivation". ASC has been busy of late with his new Auxiliary imprint and it's Symbol offshoot releasing some top quality electronica for those who prefer their beats on the deeper side. He's taken a wee break from those labels though to release this cracking EP for BLKND . The three tracks across the release span the BPM range but all retain the space and atmosphere that he's become known for. ASC has a reputation for top quality electronica and while a lot of his work hovers around the 170 BPM mark, he's also responsible for a huge amount of quality downtempo and IDM work (also under his Intex Systems alias). The folk at Liquid Cinema signed him up for an album of soundtrack work and the result was "Music For Pictures".
