Artists and record labels give away content in exchange for exposure. The outlets granting it attain a critical mass of users, which subsequently makes them more attractive for artists and record labels seeking audiences. Network effects result in concentration. Popular outlets will usually demand exclusivity from their content feeders, so as to distinguish themselves from their competitors. Some outlets monetise their audiences, either directly through advertising and merchandise, or indirectly through promotional activities such as nightclubs, gigs, remixes and DJing. In some cases, their position as 'hubs' for new talent (and credibility with audiences) enables them [...]
Teenage Panzerkorps are more than revivalists in the songwriting sense. Their sounds recall the kraut-rock of Can and Neu! with a cutting-edge lo-fi allure, vast and tributary enough to appear like a fusion of albums one obtained through trading cassette tapes in the '80s. If you were a punk enthusiast born in the late '60s/early [...]

[RSS Readers: See post to listen to audio] John Roberts new LP entitled Glass Eights has odes to old deep house and carries along at a pace that should interest new listeners to the sound that Dial excels at. Imagine standing alone in a parking lot full of snow at night and your under a amber street light and watching the snow gently going back up into the sky. I missed seeing the Warm Ghost play the other night with School Of Seven Bells but luckily a friend turned me onto them via the magical internet. The lo-fi wobbly piano part is beautiful especially when its accompanied by the vox and it comes together like if The Doves did something with a Tom Waits that hits high notes. If you like this then you should check out their EP . I can't believe i've never shared any Ashra on here, this stuff is pretty much what [...]
While chasing this band around the internet we happened across a completely unrelated book called Silk Flowers Never Die: Love, Death, Mental Illness and Courage in an Internationally Renowned Family. That title says more about their music than we ever could. Peter from the band has awesome facts.
