True Widow - "Skull Eyes" Directed by Mats Ek. These Texan Stonegazers badasses are back with their sophomore album "As High As The Highest Heavens And From The Center To The Circumference Of The Earth" out now on Kemado records. I know it's still early in the year but I do not believe there will be a better album of that [...]

It's time to listen to a bunch of the tracks I have not posted recently. Here is the next NOT POSTED mix. One of our favorite summer activities here at Backseat is heading up to Cincy for the MidPoint Music Festival 'Indie Summer' Series. They bring in great bands. The atmosphere is charged at Fountain Square. The shows are on Friday nights. And it's free! Some of this summer's acts have been announced. All are pretty much 'must see' shows. We definitely wont miss Javelin, Neon Indian and the Pomegranates, but odds are, we won't miss any of the shows. Hope to see you there! June 3 : You, You’re Awesome with Javelin [...]
This Friday, rendez-vous at La Flèche d'Or to dance on the New York dream pop of Asobi Seksu, the noisy rock of Underground Railroad, the electro music of Stal and the euphoric pop of Manceau. We have 3x2 tickets for you, go !

17 April, 2011 With new album Tao of The Dead, the Austin quartet could already very well have won the battle for best rock album of the year. I've personally not stopped playing it for the last two months and having previously never given them the time of day they're surely doing something right to effect that change. Given the album's impact then, this was a show I was, on the one hand, particularly eager to see but that was tempered with wondering about how the material would be performed - as a whole with older songs [...]

Asobi Seksu recently dropped by KEXP. Fluorescence is out now. Visit Xiu Xiu on MySpace. MP3: Asobi Seksu - Perfectly Crystal (Xiu Xiu Mix)

Only Xiu Xiu could make the opening of an Asobi Seksu track sound like a crèche full of baby Commodore 64s crying. But they’ve done it – boy, have they done it. They’ve taken the track ‘Perfectly Crystal’ and smashed a load of circuit boards all over it, making it both haunting and electronic: electro spook. Listen to the track below.

Asobi Seksu's early music seemed to ge a little more ink with it's moodier and shoegazey tendencies, an aspect that is brought out by this Xiu Xiu remix. Sure, the mood is "horror film," but it's still affecting and ultimately (and strangely) beautiful. Check out the Xiu Xiu remix of "Perfectly Crystal" below as well as tour dates with ...Trail of Dead. Fluorescence is out now. Asobi Seksu - Perfectly Crystal (Xiu Xiu Remix) by One Thirty BPM [...]

Asobi Seksu are off on tour with …Trail Of Dead this week (dates below) and to gear up for it they've released a Xiu Xiu remix of 'Perfectly Crystal'. It sounds like the track is being played through a tin can telephone draped from outer space. That's no bad thing. Tour Dates Fri 15-Apr London Electric Ballroom [...]

Where Perfectly Crystal, a suitably crystalline shard lifted from latest Asobi Seksu LP Fluorescence was once all sorts of poignance, Californian avant-garde oddballs Xiu Xiu have hacked up the track beyond much recognition as it emerges amidst the sounds of Windows 95 rebooting. Yet as Yuki Chikudate's warped vocals interject, the rework assimilates an air of jubilance, glimmers of the original seeping into a cherry blossom storm of howling industrialisation, organic and inorganic copping off at the epicentre of truly enchanting carnage. Asobi Seksu - Perfectly Crystal [...]

There are definitely over-covered bands out there, but the Jesus and Mary Chain are not among them. So I give credit to any band who tackles their tunes, and even more so if they - like Asobi Seksu - can do the band proud. Here's Asobi Seksu covering Jesus and Mary Chain's "Never Understand" at [...]
This post is a "QuickPick". QuickPicks are my attempt at getting all of the music that's sent to me that I like (or just music I like but have no words for because it's so awesome), out into the dubya dots. Any time I get sent music that I like I "star" it in Gmail and then go back and listen to it a day later. If it's still as good as it was a day before then it goes up on the site, but sometimes I get backlogged and can't get through writing [...]

Name: Yuki Chikudate About me: I sing. Play keyboards. Love cats. Road dog. Listening to: At this very moment, am listening to Mogwai ‘peel sessions- government commissions’. I remember when I saw them two times during their rock actions tours. One of the most inspiring, ass shaking shows I'd seen. Made me want to make beautiful, powerful noise the way they do. Stuart isn't really a singer in the traditional sense and that gave me permission to dip my toes into singing without feeling [...]
