Atlantic/Pacific began their career in a half hazard manner with a basic desire for the band, which then mainly consisted of Garret Klahn and John Herguth, to take a trip through Europe. The duo performed material that existed from their previous bands, Texas is the Reason, and House & Perish. After having success in Europe, "somewhere between Prague and Germany" said John "we decided to become a band". - Read Michele McMannon's feature on the band here .

Atlantic/Pacific - "Patterns" Your head is in the clouds and gravity is irrelevant. Euphoria holds you tightly and securely, making it feel as though walking on air is possible. Every drop of dark thought and every undesirable feeling slips away back down to Earth; it's an oasis in a world that's trying to drag you down. Everything seems weightless in the warm, breezy haze of ambient soundscapes, the acoustic guitar acting as a guide through it all. With the spaciousness of baroque pop and the allure of psych, "Patterns" is an incredibly pleasant [...]

New releases from Matt and Kim, Andrew Bird, Elliott Smith, et al.

Brooklyn's Atlantic/Pacific include Garrett Klahn of Texas Is The Reason and John Herguth of House & Parish), with production and instrumentation help from Ian Love (Rival Schools). This week they released their full length debut Meet Your New Love on No Sleep Records . The hushed sentimentality of the album is perfect for Sunday mornings (coming down), late-nights, or the back porch dusk chill.Sort of reminds me of American Music Club, Fleet Foxes, the Association and the CSN record with "Shadow Captain" on [...]

More like meet your new favorite chill out band . Meet Your New Love , the debut from Brooklyn's Atlantic/Pacific , is a beautifully hushed collection of hazy, spaced-out late night songs, complete with psychedelic swirls and swooning guitars. But there are a few more reasons to get excited about the band than, you know, good music. Namely, Atlantic/Pacific is the new act from Garrett Klahn, formerly the singer of influential proto-emo badasses Texas Is the Reason (think Promise Ring, et al), who broke up back in 1997. Don't expect the same [...]

[mp3] Greg Thomas: "In Sequence" Full disclosure, Greg Thomas is a long time friend and supporter of Stark. That does little, though, to take away from the pure song-writing talent and natural vocal intonation, of someone who is quickly becoming a rising player in the highly competitive New York singer songwriter market. Just ask Idolator . Yet, Greg is not just some crooner with a guitar. At a full-to-capacity CD release show last night at The Living Room, he showed off his more than capable band, featuring a talented atmospheric lead guitar [...]

Atlantic/Pacific is the Brooklyn duo of Garrett Klahn and John Herguth, two Brooklyn indie scene vets who began writing together 2008 in Klahn's apartment and then, guitars in hand, took their new songs on the road to U.S. and European clubs and festivals. A self-made debut EP Autumn Edition Volume 1 dropped last fall to solid reviews and the pair found then found themselves ensconced in the studio again, this time with producer and multi-instrumentalist (and self-described "phantom third member") Ian Love in tow to help them hone their songs and flesh out -- with [...]
