Adelaide, Australia's Atlas Genius is back again with a new single "Back Seat," is a pop number that blends an infectious shimmering beat with a cool bass line that creates a slow burner; the kind of song that you listen to while cruising the streets late at night.

I've never been good at writing thank you notes, but consider this a token of my overwhelming gratitude to the great country of Australia for giving the world so much music to get excited about. Atlas Genius made the summer of 2011 one to remember with their single "Trojans," and now they're back with an the equally smooth "Back Seat" off their upcoming EP Through The Glass . With an understated bass line and a chorus begging you to warble along, the track illustrates what Atlas Genius will undoubtedly continue to do so [...]
Two hours ago, I had absolutely no clue who Atlas Genius was. After replaying this song about 15x, though, I felt the need to share this new gem from the Australian band. "Back Seat" is such a smooth tune. It's one of those records that makes you want to just hop in the car and start driving—anywhere. The band is releasing their debut EP, Through the Glass , on June 12. If you're digging this one, make sure you follow Atlas Genius on Twitter and check out their song "Trojans." Trust [...]

Atlas Genius are an unsigned band out of Australia. They have successfully self-produced their own music, and they have recorded their own record out of a home studio over the past 3 years. The band consist of 3 brothers Keith (vocals), Steven (bass), Michael (drums) and the fourth member is Darren (keyboards). The first song they recorded is 'Trojans' and an acoustic version just premiered over at MTV 2 the other day. It is hard to find much wrong with their first single 'Trojans', the song floats around in your head right up there [...]
Australia's Atlas Genius sounds quite a bit similar to Phoenix, and their first single "Trojans," a power pop sound with a driving bassline, shimmering guitars and and extremely catchy hook. It's an aptly named song as it disguises itself, finds its way into your ears and deep into your brain and lays a siege over you. Its a song I haven't been able to turn off for quite some time. There's also a fantastic acoustic version of it right here . More from Atlas Genius Twitter | Facebook | [...]
In my book there's nothing better for a persons development then having to perform under pressure. The bigger the audience, the higher the stakes, the more to lose, the better. There's something about those situations that requires you to simply man up and perform. It begs you to destroy your comfort zone, fail and constantly push yourself to get better at whatever it is you do. It also requires you to be out there all the time, in the mix, on hypothetical stage performing, trying new things and pushing it. It doesn't matter if [...]
Sometimes I all want in a song is catchiness. That's my requirement for this post. It's not the most inspiring criteria but it definitely is a lighthearted, optimistic view on music, which is all that music needs to be sometimes. I guess I should note the elements of the song or make some profound observation about the song itself but I'm just going to tell you I like it I guess. I'm not sure if that's a quality music review. Actually, I know it's not but what's there to say when you know you like something [...]
Australian band Atlas Genius delivers an alternative rock track, "Trojans". I'm loving the pick-up in the song, catchy guitar riffs and overall how chill the track is. Trojans by Atlas Genius
With a new album called On The Water out October 22, Future Islands released this single "Balance" as a teaser last week. Future Islands - "Balance" This is Atlas Genius' only single, as three Aussie brothers joined forces with an Englishman to create this indie pop foursome. Here's this week's Monday Music, the one post per-week where SOIWT drops its London-only focus: Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know (Feat. Kimbra ) Break-up songs are usually full of spice and spite, but this one's all perky and pretty. Weirdly, though, the dainty keyboard hops and the library-quiet vocals make Australian multi-instrumentalist Gotye's pain all the more stirring. Atlas Genius are from Adelaide and make bright indie pop. Over the past few months they have gained a huge online following - without the support of Triple J, which for an Australian band is pretty unheard of. It is particularly admirable considering that music from Adelaide rarely gets Australian attention (with the exception of Leader Cheetah, Fire! Santa Rosa Fire and more recently glisk) so to receive such strong international support for your debut single is a great effort. 'Trojans' is a smart pop track that deserves more local attention, especially [...]

E a respirare. Take care . Here's the fantastic sophomore release from Cosine Records, the digital-only label that specializes in splits. No B-side, just two A-sides. This one showcases the charming, ridiculously catchy indie-pop bands Atlas Genius & Athletes in Paris. Try to listen to these songs just once....I triple-dog dare you! I have this standing order for anyone who writes for our blog: we generally avoid trashing bands who send us their material if they're new. A lot of bands send along their very first single, first EP, first album, and we're not in the business of crushing people's dreams by being needlessly mean. Granted, this...
After making up the summer mix i came away craving some lyric heavy songs. Those ones that help hold the heart rather than moving the feet. This week is a slow build but it still delivers Stornoway- Fuel Up I don't know how i missed Stornoway last year but i did. I'm on such a [...]
