Answers below from members of the Average White Band, Twin Atlantic, Broken Records, Fangs, Dananananaykroyd, FOUND, Mogwai and more. ----- The Dear Scotland contributors are taking a bit of "winter break" over [...]
It's Hogmanay and apart from Auld Lang Syne, what other songs will should be singing to celebrate Scotland? Atlas Sound is the solo moniker of Bradford Cox, frontman and linchpin of Deerhunter. Although he's been using the name Atlas Sound for a good 15 years or so, he didn't actually release an album under that name until 2008 with "Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel", loved all over the shop and appearing on most "end of year best-of" lists and not only gave himself/Atlas Sound more exposure but the same thing happened for Deerhunter. Atlas Sound's second album "Logos" was released on October 19th 2009 via 4AD, again to even more praise and [...]

La Blogotheque's Take-Away Shows are always eerily intimate, and one of their latest with Bradford Cox is especially so.In this live vid he lays down a skeletal version of "Attic Lights," a track from his new LP, Logos. I'm I to believe he drank all those shots, or were they merely placed their for effect? He doesn't seem that wasted. Some tracks you should hear:MP3s:Atlas Sound- "Doctor" (Five
The Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival, which includes the rather brilliant 'Music Like a Vitamin' concerts, returns this year running from 1 – 22 October 2009. Details of the programme will be announced officially on Tuesday the 1st of September, however details of some of the shows have already started to filter out. Karine Polwart and Emma Pollock are the first acts to be 'announced' for the opening show at the Glasgow Fruitmarket on the 1st of October. Then on the 21st of October, Edinburgh is treated to the delights of the Attic [...]

Toronto - When most people think remix, they often think it is done to make a song more danceable, or night club ready. That is not always the case. Take this week's remix of the week. Attic Lights are a Scottish band that received some press last year due to their album "Friday Night Lights". One of the hit songs off that album was the song Wendy, a nice little tune that has sweet melodies and a nice pop feel to it. The remix is done by legendary Scottish band The Vaselines , and instead of adding [...]

If Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips had a child with Norman Blake of Teenage Fanclub, their offspring would sound a lot like Kevin Sherry, lead singer of Attic Lights . Then again, his influences are doing some hefty talking. Growing up in Glasgow, Sherry, and his four other Scottish brutes, acquired musical inspiration from bands such as The Beach Boys, The Flaming Lips, Pavement, and countless other American acts. Within moments of hearing the band's songs, it's clear which musical muses cultivate their sound. Youthfully boyish harmonies and simple, yet gorgeous melodies fill out an armoire [...]

Glasvegas is the Glaswegian band of the moment getting all the love (and hate ), but Attic Lights debut disc Friday Night Lights (great cd and TV show!) combines the guitar fuzz of Teenage Club with the melodic pop-ability of ... well, Teenage Fanclub. I don't think this one has even received a U.S. release so thanks to Feeney for the heads up. Recommended for all you melody whores. Attic Lights - "Walkie Talkie"

This was a charity concert for Versus Cancer , a very noble and worthy cause. We have nothing but admiration for the hard work put in by the organisers to make this night happen. However, The Pop Cop's job is to put sentiment to one side and review the gig so if you don't agree with our opinions please go easy on the "you'll burn in hell" comments. Party balloons float over the heads of the audience, [...]
![Single - Attic Lights - Wendy [Island Records]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1308469_lg.jpg)
Toronto - Attic Lights are a Scottish band that formed a few years ago. They have a single out now called 'Wendy' that I am totally addicted to. The single also contains a remix done by Camera Obscura, if that gives you an indication of what their music sounds like. I wished this was released in the summer, because the song would probably make my summer compilation, its got that laid back summery vibe to it I think. This has become one of my favorite things associated with the word "Wendy" along side the junior [...]

Aye aye sailors, welcome to the Friday Gig Guide, a quick round-up of what you could be doing if you were cool enough to be in London and wealthy enough to drop everything and score tickets to some gigs. I shall be at home watching Big Bro and eating potato salad as firstly I have flu (poor me) and secondly I have massive studenty type finance situations. Bring on that next loan installment! Koko has Scottish lads Sergeant supported by the lovely and equally Scottish Attic Lights [...]

MP3: Marching Band - "Travel In Time" Perhaps my fellow Rock Sellout blogger Keath is right in his conspiracy theories about us Swedes taking over the world when it comes to the music scene. Because Marching Band are well on their way on becoming the next Swedish act to make it big outside Scandinavia. "Travel In Time" is so far my favorite track of their debut album, Spark Large (out on August 5) - Sweet, catchy and folksy in that typical Swedish way. MP3: Attic [...]

There are just a few major events in the music calendar left to tell you about... so we've decided to bundle them all together for one, big festival orgy. Where's it at? King George V Park , Banchory, Aberdeenshire. When's it kicking [...]

We rarely go out of our way to write about music that doesn't inspire us in some way. It always just seems a horrible waste of everybody's time. It's like when people start conversations about how much they hate Big Brother - yes, we all know it's brain-numbing TV at its worst but change the channel if you don't want to watch it and, this is the important part, stop talking about it! Today, we feel compelled to devote this post to SERGEANT and [...]

And the award for the poor man's T in the Park goes to... What's it called? Live At Loch Lomond . Where's it at? Balloch Castle Country Park, Balloch. When's it kicking off? August 2-3. Who are the headliners? Groove Armada, Sex Pistols. And the flatliners? Pete Doherty. [...]
