Maybe it's just us, but fall always seems to be such a depressing time of the year. The sky darkens earlier, the weather gets colder and colder, and aside from a few fortunate lucky kids in Texas, the music festivals are few and far between. A friend of mine emailed me today saying that I should check out the band Audrye Sessions . She said that they sound like " old Radiohead meets Muse meets Travis ". I normally dismiss this kind of talk, but she was right. After listening to the Oakland quartet's vocalist Ryan Karazija, I could see what she meant. We absolutely love this new band out of Oakland, California called AUDRYE SESSIONS . Think of Travis , Pablo Honey -era Radiohead and some early Muse if they were to blossom out of the states instead of the UK and you're on to the right path. As usual well past due, here's the latest (and not-so-latest) from the Licorice Pizza mailbox. There's a pretty good selection of stuff here; something for everyone's palate, I think. My personal pick of the litter is the tune from Brooklyn's TK Webb & the Visions, "Teen is Still Shaking." This is a spacey metal song with Dylan-esque vocals. My vote for weirdest song is Lexicon's hip-hop take on the Ramones "I Wanna Be Sedated." And winning the honor for "Singer I'd Most Like to Leave Everything For" is Kirsten Price. Audrye Sessions is a guitar rock quartet out of Oakland, CA that has recently recorded its self-titled debut album (available digitally September 30th).
