Te invitamos a darles play acá abajo. 10. SMITH WESTERNS: 'Varsity' [...]

In order to fully appreciate this track you must be in a complete state of bliss, and/or in a completely chilled out state of mind. Counting, is the falsetto executed love song filled with ambient sounds and energy waves alongside quirky brass work that not only makes it eery in a way we love, but also as abstract as the lyrics, which we also adore. The song is a plea for artist Autre Ne Veut' s (Arthur Ashin) dying grandmother to stay alive. It is sad and profound, yet simple and loving much like an opera [...]

London's Bayou has clearly been paying attention to the city's (possibly the world's) undisputed master of publicity, Jai Paul . Specifically, he's internalised that most important lesson: all press is good press, but the best press is no press at all. At least, I think that was what Jai was trying to say. It's hard to tell, because he basically never says anything. The point is that until recently, very little was known about who Bayou was, or what he sounded like. The only insight anyone [...]

After piquing interest with a Sun Raw remix EP last month, Red Bull Music Academy alum and (apparent) R&B mega-fan Naphta is back with another remix package. This time around, the Polish producer has put forth his oddly slurred take on some of the most critically acclaimed R&B cuts from the last year, drawing from Autre Ne Veut, Shlohmo & Jeremih, and Tinashe. Naphta also draws quite a bit of his sound from regional American staples like Jersey Club and Three 6 Mafia-style, hi hat heavy beat work. The package is highly entertaining, if not spectacular, but few remix [...]
Remember Röyksopp? No? Not even the one with Fever Ray? Well no matter, for although the Norwegian sentimentalists have slipped forever deeper into eternal irrelevance since the trailblazing release of their seminal (yes, that's seminal ) début Melody A.M. , their legacy lives on. For rarely does electronica resonate with such emotive potency, and it's in that same rich vein of feeling that Brooklyn duo Beacon appear to have bathed their mutedly, if only periodically sublime début full-length, The Ways We Separate . It's an album comprising incisive avant-garde cuts (Overseer) and sultry [...]

“On Your Own (Pt. 2)” is the latest darkly comedic step towards Fryars’ debut album, which is looking increasingly like it could be filed somewhere near Autre Ne Veut in your record collection, though of course with the addition of Benjamin Garrett’s unique take on despondent pop music. There’s something brilliantly direct about the bluntness of the delivery, as a deadpan Fryars paints a rather downcast scene in which relationships are false, life is imprisonment, and everyone is ultimately unhappy. Charlie Brooker is almost certainly a fan. “Don’t matter if you’re rich, you’ll die alone” is destined to become the [...]

The live drums shuddered, the bass and synths rumbled through the speakers, and the strong female backing vocals oozed sensuality. Yet it was Arthur Ashin’s vocals that were most remarkable. Autre Ne Veut is the brainchild of New Yorker Ashin and this gig saw him performing tracks from his latest album ' Anxiety ' (pictured). Performed live, ‘Anxiety’ becomes a different beast altogether from its recorded counterpart, with a lead vocal performance that will likely split audiences. [...]
All photos by Rachel Barrish | RaddRhapsodies.com It was billed as a hyper-rager, and it certainly did not disappoint - the March edition of Dave P's Making Time was a stacked triple-bill, with noisy Montreal synth rockers Doldrums, expressive R&B crooner Autre Ne Veut and Spanish dance-rock outfit Delorean. After Doldrums' colorful set involving puffy knit ... Continue reading

B3SCI has teamed up with the good peeps at Danger Village to drop this exclusive mix of their choice Spring 2013 worthy jams. Owner Beth Martinez curates the mix track by track below. Hibernation doesn't stand a chance. 1) holychild “Best Friends” This song sets the tone perfectly for what I want to come across in this mix. For spring we’re looking to brighter, organic sounds threaded through with good feelings of friendship and laughter. Shifting away from the electronic-heavy vibes of the last mix, this song [...]
![[mp3] Mykki Blanco – Bugged Out (prod. Supreme Cuts)](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4882215_lg.jpg)
Mykki Blanco is the kind of ground breaking, shape shifting and genre defining act that takes a while for people to come to grips with, but when they do, boy it's total adoration. Same goes with us. Already seen as the next "Rap Lady" with her own style and attidude of course. Mikky Blanco isn't your usual rapper. She brakes a number of rules. You just have to be the master of whatever it is you do, command respect and look good doing it. For some [...]

Even though it's technically April 2, it still feels like early February in what continues to be the longest winter on record. Can someone please file a frivolous lawsuit against that liar of a groundhog? To further add salt to the wounds of this never ending winter, I've recently sunburned the scheisse out of my face and my forehead is currently in the process of molting in the grossest way imagineable. But I guess it's a great pre-summer reminder not to make such an avoidable mistake again when it really matters. And how did I get a [...]
