Tabù D'Apache 's second release from 1986, just as good as the first one. Cooooooloooooooouuuuuuuuuuurrs sssss.... I can't get over how much I love the singer. He probably had no idea just how good he was, but he must have had some moves when he sang. Eyes half closed and fists in the air. And: this song should also have been a huge mega-hit. Boohoo. Ok, my turn to give this a go! I recieved a newsletter about The Autumns new single, "Boys" with a link to the video. I was quite surprised by their new sound; they have more or less swapped their dream pop for mainstream rock (check out the mp3 for comparison if you're not familiar with their previous work). I guess it's rather catchy, but it also reminds me a bit of bands like Good Charlotte... So what do you think? [...]

When we were asked to cover the LA music scene all those years ago, The Autumns were one of the first bands we ever wrote about. The band's headlining show at the Troubadour in 1999 is still one of the best nights we've ever witnessed -- Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Splashdown, and The Arrogants opened. We were so obsessed with their dream pop grandeur that we rarely missed them, especially

I said recently I was going to do more album reviews and back off from the themed mixtape type posts. But I really enjoy doing those types of posts, it is a cathartic process. I am also working on mixtapes that actually flow together well musically as opposed to doing them based on a theme. Those should be fun and more challenging. Well here goes another one... mp3 All Bad Ends All The Books - Thought for Food [...]

pic courtesy of here I have always hated Sundays, they have been some of the most depressing days of the week for me. When I was working (seems like so long ago), they were days filled with the dread of the weekend ending and the start of a new week. Now that I am out of work, these days are even worse and I long for a Sunday that has the promise of a new week ahead of new things to encounter. I think I have learned [...]
Don't know if clubs are getting in the gift-giving mood, but this week is absolutely loaded with shows. We'll try to keep to the basics... Tonight at Spaceland is gigantic. Eskimohunter, Miss Derringer, LoveLikeFire, and Sky Parade. It's like a dream or something... Silversun Pickups headlines two sold-out shows at the Troubadour over the weekend. It took the band like five years to do it and
Ah Autumn...my favorite time of the year (or atleast it used to be...now its kinda tied with winter, spring and summer). Autumn ranks in my top four seasons because I'm a fan of that special autumn feeling that somehow develops out of crisp weather, football and basketball seasons, thanksgiving (my favorite holiday), November (my favorite month), my birthday (Nov. 4) and the beginning of snowboarding season. (Note: As a Californian, "autumn leaves" don't mean much to me) Apparently Autumn also inspires more than just some [...]
Dear Jenny, It's only a couple days into the season, but autumn has hit me full force. Everything around me is in this golden glow, everything has gone soft. I wish you were here to take pics of the red and brass colored leaves, I wish you were here to drink spiced hot apple cider and slide around in stocking feet on my hardwood floors. Here is a mix for you to listen to, leave your windows open and lay on your bed, put on headphones. So many exes and ohs to [...]
