As if The Avengers wasn't already going to be an amazing film, now we get a soundtrack that pumps up its amazingness. Soundgarden has released a snippet of a brand new song appearing on the movie's soundtrack called "Live To Rise" which you can check out down below. The soundtrack will be available on May 1st and then the movie comes out on May 4th. Every superhero needs his theme music and The Avengers decided to get distorted.

I know nothing at all about this film. I've never known of its existence until now thanks to the crew over at The New Vulgate . Apparently made by the folks at Search & Destroy , it was shot in 1978 by Mindaugis Bagdon at the March 21 benefit for striking Kentucky coal miners at the Mabuhay Gardens. It includes appearances by the Avengers, Dils, Mutants, Sleepers, and UXA, and if you're lucky, you can grab a copy on DVD here .

I love that this trailer finally makes all of the previous Marvel films just seem like a long preamble to the main event. May 4th can't get here fast enough. Behind-the-scenes featurette after the jump, because it's really just for the diehards.

Avengers excitement is heating up.  The new UK poster sports the title Avengers Assemble!  Fun.  Necessary?  Who cares. Along with this, a great new trailer with better footage of the team in action. Of course Hawkeye is marginalized, which is disappointing but is probably setting the right expectation for what I should expect from the film.  Here is a great shot of him falling and shooting. With just two months to go until the new Avengers  movie gets released, the film's makers have decided to change its name - and release a poster featuring the new title, Avengers Assemble . The name change has come about after studio bosses became concerned over the possibility of UK audiences confusing the film with the 1960s TV series of the same name and/or it's awful 1998 movie reboot. Just about every comic book fan remembers the “What If?” title, hosted by the Watcher, fondly.  The stories told fanciful, possible, alternative outcomes to classic Marvel storylines.  (But be warned: If you actually go back and re-read your yellowing-newsprint copies, you’ll probably wonder why you saved them in the first place.)  I recently uncovered a box of old Volume 1 issues and realized...Many (most?) have actually come true! This movie has potential to either be one of the greatest live action movies of all time or will be a complete failure in which everyone will wish Marvel never began production on the film in the first place. Either way, it looks to be a film in which everyone will watch This May . Here's hoping the Avengers can at least live up to some of the hype.

The extended commercial for The Avengers contains plenty of awesome new footage, like Shields helipad, the Hulk, etc. Really, I'm getting the sense that 20122s summer movie season could be as incredible as 20112s was completely forgettable.
