The Seedy Seeds are always busy touring or creating new music for us to consume. Seriously, it seems like they always have something new up their sleeves. Well, they participated in a pretty cool collaboration with The Winter Sounds to cover a great Neutral Milk Hotel song "King of Carrot Flowers Pt.1." The video comes to us from Off The Avenue, a web TV series produced by North Avenue Studios Inc. More videos from Off The Avenue here . The Seeds did another song, "Ethel" for Off [...]

It's difficult for me to say but I'm not sure I can relate to this single. I want to but I don't feel I can. Though this is probably built on my 'old man' taste and traditional views on music. That all said, the tune has been bathed in good production and layered efficively to create a sonically fantasti... Read more..

West Coast duo Fantasy Island (Alex Jacob & Spencer Frazen) sent this little number over to our inbox, a track titled 'Avenue.' Not sure how to explain what we're hearing but damn if it doesn't sound good to our ears. Psych, pop & soul all in one, how can you go wrong. Listen to the melodic tune below. Single will see daylight on February 27th via Stroll On Records Fantasy Island - Avenue Avenue by Fantasy Island

Remember when we spoke about Californian whizz kid Therapies Son back way back in March ? Good yeah? Well as 2k11 has progressed, the brainchild behind that certain venture has moved onto a new jaunt as tripped out avant garde act Fantasy Island . continue reading >>

Fantasy Island , sent me an email simply stating "cool song being released on limited 7" vinyl in February." It turns out this very direct, short pr pitch worked big on me, as I was directed towards "Avenue", a gleeful synth tune, that is high on coma-inducing melodies. This is the L.A. duo's first single, and I would say their off to a pretty high flying start. Their evident love of Motown shines increasingly throughout the track, which put a big smile on my face. Fans of Unknown Mortal Orchestra , take notice, as the vintage pysch vibes are [...]

"Television Youth" blends power pop, garage rock and fuzzy punk for a fun - playful, even - sound that reminds me a bit of the early works by The Thermals. The band is Sonic Avenues , the latest addition to Dirtnap Records. They are four Montreal natives (you can just barely hear that French Canadian accent in the vocals... just) that produce loud, raucous, exhilarating music that simply begs to be heard. Check out "Television Youth" below and find it on their sophomore LP and Dirtnap [...]

Montreal, Quebec has a rich music scene known predominantly for its string of successful indie (see: Arcade Fire) and post-rock (see: God Speed! You Black Emperor) bands. In 2009, the jangling guitars and poppy melodies of the self-titled debut from punk act Sonic Avenues buzzed their way through the din and pushed the band to impressive success. After selling out two printings of their LP, the band moved to Portland, OR label Dirtnap Records. Now, Sonic Avenues are set to release their next album, Television Youth , and you can hear an exclusive taste of the title [...]

No Modest Bear premiered a newly recorded version of an older unreleased track from dream-pop troupe Moscow Olympics today. It falls right into place with their previous material and is highly recommended for fans of The Radio Dept., Slowdive and Sarah Records aficionados. There's no update on a follow-up to 2008's gorgeous Cut the World full-length, but you can order a newer pressing of that record on CD over at Japanese imprint Happy Prince . [...]

NMB just premiered this ultrawarm gazewave track by Moscow Olympics who come from the Philippines and sound like The Radio Dept but a Radio Dept that wears their love of New Order more on their sleeves. Either way, keeping the avenues open, a reworking of an MO song from a year ago, is definitely vibe-ready and is a sweet look into the sound of the four-piece's second album, on schedule at Fraction Discs .

We haven't done a Wednesday Wiggles post in a long time, and I thought it was a good time to bring it back now that it feels like summer has really begun. The high schoolers are out, it's getting warmer, and the Northeast is actually seeing the sun! So here's some tuneage to help you tear up the carpet during the upcoming weekend. Avenue- Can You Feel It (Soda Boys Remix) I have no idea how this got on my computer, but I'm glad. It's great. Soda Boys MySpace [...]

Dance music is often deliberately fleeting. Much of it is created to capitalize on whatever sound is in fashion at that particular time, and there isn't a great deal of thought put into how it will be viewed by future listeners. You could say that's true of many genres and perhaps even music in general, but dance music is particularly susceptible to the influence of The Now. Not only that, but it's made for a dance floor, and the dance floor is definitely a transitory place. My friend (who happened to be a DJ as well) once said that a [...]
As our taste in music gets ever increasingly stranger and stranger by the day.....we get this in the might Inbox, a remix from the Soda Boys of what appears to be a RnB group called AvenueI don't know..... check it out for yourselfDownload here: http://www.mediafire.com/?mjnm jfqwdyn 128 Kbps Link to Avenue: http://www.myspace.com/avenueg roup

Well, first off. I don't have much for the band Avenue (Sorry). Are you a combination of Maroon 5 and the Jonas Brothers? I bet you all have purity rings . Maybe a lot of people like that kind of music. I don't, I'm sorry mates. But, now hear me, this ain't a original track of before-mentioned act. This is a remix by Soda Boys , and I like it. It's dancy with a funky touch, and a arpeggiator synth closing the deal, making this go in the category of "Awesome". [...]

The other day when I posted that K'Naan someone mentioned K-OS. I definitely heard the resemblence. Luckily for whoever it was that wanted some new K-OS, two new tracks emerged today. Check them out. K-OS - Zambony K-OS - The Avenue PigeonsandPlanes
