The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual event where each European member country submit a song for competition. Having been one of the longest running television broadcasts since 1959, Sweden's own ABBA won the contest in 1974 with "Waterloo," and they are back this year - but for another reason. Abba members Benny and Bjorn won't be entering the contest, they'll be composing the theme song, and they'll be doing so alongside fellow Swedish musician Avicii . The collaboration has been titled "We Will Write The Story" and is set for a live debut on May 18th, the contest's [...]

Make the party move this weekend with Nicky Romero's progressive-house jam "Symphonica." Since breaking it big with "Toulouse" in 2012, Nicky Romero has mixed with big name DJs like Avicii and hasn't let us down yet. Paying homage to the full orchestra, Romero utilizes simple violin and piano melodies on top of a driving beat to make "Symphonica" an instant house hit. This weekend "Symphonica" is guaranteed to make the women move and get your heart jumping. - Matthew Fried, co-host of The Thieves of Indie-uh, Mondays 3-4pm

There was some controversy when Avicii played his live set at UMF Miami and included live instrumentals and a mix with Country music. Well, he unleashed his Promo Mix 2013 which actually features some of these new tracks that will also be on the album and I have to say that I love it. People hated on him for the Levels hype and now that he's expanding the range of his sound people hat on him too. Be your own judge and listen to this one hour EDM experiment, it might be well worth your time. [...]
Avicii has been in the headlines of the musical word over the last few weeks, with his highly discussed album being unleashed during his Ultra set in Miami this year, and then with his even more controversial feature in GQ magazine. Today he decided to put up a mix featuring many of the songs up [...]
So after a rather awkward UMF performance, Avicii releases a promo mix for 2013 that contains a significant amount of album previews. Personally, I enjoyed Avicii's performance. It was cool to see him as an established " EDM " artist, step outside the box and welcome some live vocalist guests on stage for his performance. In this current state of dance music, everyone just wants 'the drop', but Tim went out on a limb to experiment with a new musical experience. But, that's just one man's opinion as I read through [...]
Escuchen el Promo Mix for 2013 abajo.
For the second year in a row, young Swedish producer Avicii pulled out all the stops during his Ultra set. In 2012, he brought the queen of pop on stage with him and in 2013, he shocked many previewing tracks from his new album that contained *gasp* a bit of country twang and fewer of those immediately recognizable big dance melodies. Now, the Avicii camp is out with a new promotional mix for 2013 and although it's not exactly the same as his Ultra set or his Diplo & Friends guest mix from earlier [...]
Avicii's been getting absolutely skewered lately. For misfiring with his attempted 'groundbreaking' set at Ultra, to a GQ article in which his quotes were taken out of context, it's been a tough run for the Swedish producer. I'm not sure how much of it is actually deserved - I feel ... Read More
Ear-deafing phrases, classic reverb boosters and rumbling tune selection could only mean one thing... “Sir” Henry Fong is in town Ladies and Gents. Remember the first time you heard "Levels?" Well, Avicii remembers too. Not only does he remember the first time he played "Levels," but the first time one of his records was featured as Pete Tong's Essential New Tune, and the first time he heard one of his original productions played by another DJ. Avicii has taken to Twitter to share his nostalgia and recalls those memories and more - taking fans on a trip down memory lane. Jump below break to look back on Avicii's major career firsts. [...]
Before Avicii was Avicii, he was producing beats under his Tim Berg moniker, and the song that made its mark on the dance music world was “Alcoholic.” The eerie vocal caught on instantly and slowly began his rise to his present day superstardom. Labelmates Cazzette take on the track with an official remix slated to release on April 19th on Avicii’s Le7els imprint, maintaining its core elements around a steady downbeat to make one tasteful of a trap outing. Without altering the vocal, the duo have injected new life into a track that worked wonders [...]

Pretty big news here for our friends from across the pond. Two of the biggest promoters in EDM culture join forces for Electric Daisy Carnival London. Where else would such an event take place, but the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Mark your calendars, Saturday July 20th will no doubt be one of the biggest shows to hit the UK this summer with headliners Tiësto and Avicii, as well as a gaggle of other top shelf talent. Knowing Electric Daisy Carnival and what they do, we expect that Pasquale Rotella and company will make good use of the [...]

Filed under: News , RPM , EDM Ture Lillegraven / GQ Swedish EDM megastar Avicii was recently featured in GQ , receiving a somewhat less-than-flattering profile in the magazine, and now he's posted a response, claiming reporter Jessica Pressler "failed miserably" in her portrayal of him. The 23-year-old "Levels" producer, who began making tracks in his bedroom in 2008, makes disparaging statements about his craft in the feature, allegedly stating "I'm [...]

There's been plenty of controversy surrounding the guy who made "Levels." It's kind of expected when you're basically the overnight celebrity that now house hold name Avicii has become. Regardless, Tim Bergling is sitting pretty atop the highest ranks of the DJ world- and he's only 23. In the April edition of GQ , they have a feature in which of their staff members tags along with the chart-shattering artist, getting a taste of what his (non) strenuous lifestyle is like. There's plenty of notable moments inside, from his revelation [...]

Photo Credit: My Media A-Trak has hit out hard at Avicii after his recent interview with GQ magazine where the Swede stated that DJing is mostly "before work," justifying most of the set list and transitions are worked out before he gets onstage.. The response to reading the frank article was swift on Twitter with the Canadian born DMC champion and ADIDAS sponsored A-Trak quoting "So there's an @Avicii article in @GQMagazine where he says his sets are completely pre-planned & [...]

"The notion of a DJ who determines what to play by reading the room "feels like something a lot of older DJs are saying to kind of desperately cling on staying relevant." -Avicii Really Tim? Really? Talk about a foot in mouth quote. Don't get me wrong, I'm not Internet hating to hate. And I do I understand where Avicii's words are coming from. The man equals chart topping popularity and is hearted by many and has gotten there in a short amount of time. People that hate on someone just because they're poplar makes no [...]
